The Halo people, eh? I'd say that it'd inevitably turn into a long war dragged on for decades on the outer systems of both sovereigns. In the end, I'm sure neither has the manpower to entirely kill the other.

As to who would win this Pyrrhic victory... it'd be whoever could adapt the other side's advancements to their own needs the most. That or sabotage.

The Star Wars guys seemed to be taken down by a single shot.

The Covenant have personal energy shields.
The Covenant can turn a planet into glass.
The Covenant have the Forerunner tech.
And the Covenant have Hunters.

Of course, the it's point moot, because the Flood pwns all.

Everyone who appreciates quality science fiction like Star Trek, Stargate, Asimov's writings, ect loses.

Anyway, if you don't want to debate the topic, get out.

Not that I'm in any way biased, but The Empire wins this one, surely. Just for sheer badassness, nothing is as badass as giant elephant/dinosaur walking tanks bristling with guns and full of soldiers. Also, Death Star. Any organisation that can build a planet-killing battlestation in less than a decade gets major points.

Hunters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covenant_%28Halo%29#Hunters) are the huge armored covenant. Their shield can block most weapons, which they also use to ram you with. Their armor also allows them to take a ton of hits, making them hard to kill...unless of course you shoot them in the unarmored part of their back, in which case they'll die from a single shot with a pistol.:)

Given that most of the weapons in Halo (correct me if I'm wrong) seem to be variants of modern solid-projectile weapons, I don't see the problem for Imperial Stormtroopers. Anyway, Imperials like to field a lot of heavy weapons like turbolasers, which would make short work of walking tank guys.
