Should there be a new Star Wars Trilogy?

I believe there should be. I'd frankly like to see Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy made into a series.

Yes, definitely so.

But this time I will make the movies!

Two SW films were quite enough, thank you very much.

Actually there were six films and two trilogys. ;) :p

No, I am not a fan of Starwars and I just don't think a new trilogy would make me think any higher of the series.

I count eight films and a 'holiday special'. As I said though, two were enough.

Wrong. Only A New Hope and Empire exist. The other four are nothing more than an urban legend.

cf. the film Highlander and the novel Rendezvous With Rama.

Only if they get the writers from KOTOR 1 and 2 on board. It was better than the New Trilogy hands down.

Maybe some of the Rogue Squadron series, with re-write help.

Get a decent writer like Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens on board, and I'll be mildly interested. Otherwise, no thanks...we've had enough of this crap as it is.

Am I the only one who remembers when Empire came out, and everyone was surprised at the "Episode Five" lead-in? Lucas announced at that time that it was intended to be nine films in three trilogies, and he gave rough outlines of all three.

Of course, it took him 20 years to get back to 1, 2, and 3 ... and they sucked ... so he's since recanted on his promise. But somewhere in the mind of George Lucas are the storyboard ideas for the true Return of the Jedi.

but also think about this...

he's still around... so episodes 7 - 9 could still be made...

I'd prefer a trilogy of before I or after VI to Star Wars: Episode 3.5

As long as they do it about the KOTOR games. The first one is KOTOR 1, the second is KOTOR 2, then a sequal (The main character of KOTOR 2 finding Reven) or a prequal (Mandalorian wars).

Not if Lucas has anything to do with it. We'd have been so much better off if someone had just shot him after "Empire."

Not if Lucas insists on directing it. The second three may have been lightyears ahead of the series from the 80s in terms of special effects, but the stories were shit.

Neat fan film out there that's better done than Phantom-Clone Wars-Sith in many ways -- http://www.reignofthefallen.com/

Yes, yes, and thrice yes!

It's a shame the EU sucks so badly. Make a new trilogy, and completely override all that Yuuzhan Vong crap. >: |

As for everyone saying the prequels sucked... What? They were pretty good except TPM, which was what happens when somebody shits on a script and everyone's too polite to point it out.

Oh Good God NO! No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no *takes in deep breath* no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no. If they actually start to make three more films, I will personally burn down everything and anything that has to do with the new movies, and that includes people.

The ONLY way I'd be able to support even one more Star Wars film if the next one is like Passion of the Christ, but instead of Christ, we have Jar Jar, and he does not come back.

Let me wake you up to something--as bad as The Phantom Menace was, it was better than the other two, but that's faint praise. Attack of the Clones was MST3000 worthy, it was so bad.

The stories were boring when they weren't ludicrous, and the acting was pathetic--especially Hayden Christensen, who spent both films vacillating between pouting and seething. There was no tension. You knew what was going to happen the whole time. That didn't mean the films were destined to fail--a quality filmmaker could still have built in some tension--but Lucas is not a quality filmmaker. Star Wars and Empire were good in spite of Lucas, not because of him. They were eye-candy and little else.

In all fairness knowing what was going to happen could hardly be helped. There was a lot of time for people to work things out, and most of it was set in stone for years anyway. And Hayden Chistensen (however hard he apparently tried) couldn't drag the whole thing down to his hole in the ground just below rock bottom. Ewan MacGregor was quite good, and whoever played padme (can't remember her name) wasn't bad. Ian Macdiarmud was fucking awesome as Palpatine.

Anyway, however bad it might have been (I still say the prequel trilogy was pretty good) it was worth it just to see the Clone Wars and Order 66.

Like I said, if they ever make another Star Wars film, the only way I'd see it if they submit Jar Jar Binks to the whole Passion of the Christ treatment, but without the resurrection at the end. At the end, you have the entire Star Wars galaxy cheering and throwing a taper tape parade everywhere.

It'd be two hours of Jar Jar getting the crap beat out of him, comedy gold, fun for the entire family!

Jar Jar was in all three, to a lesser extent. The story in TPM, though execrable, was better than in the last two, and the acting was more passable.

yes, the third trilogy should be made.

but only after lucas is dead or too old to participate.

then his heirs should open the franchise to however many great movies can be made about the star wars universe.
