So, which is your proudest thread-creating achievement on NSG? This can be any of how much intelligent debate it fosters, how long it goes for etc. etc.

I was never able to understand what was being talked about in any of my threads after about three pages. My most successful was the thread about tanks...

My thread have like zero staying power. The funniest responses came from my 'original' "Pirates vs. Ninjas" back in 2003. I don't remember them, but I remember laughing my ass off.

I have to keep the damn thing in a box now...

Note the scare quotes. It was when I was newbie...I imagine it had been done before, but I hadn't seen it and no one complained and it was in 2003, so I count it as an 'original' though it is a big bad internet...

Though I'm pretty sure my follow up, "Hegelian Dialectic vs. A Fish Taco" was original enough...

S'alright. It's not something I really advertised. I think Eut was the only one who knew my "secret identity" originally. It just so happens that whenever I lose my access to the internet for long periods of time, I had to create a new nation -before I learned that you can ask a mod to restore it.

Oh crap, I forgot I have four threads in the archive, the Presidential/Vice Presidential Peanut Galleries. I created them in a hope to concentrate comments about the debates into one place instead of having a dozen going at once and it worked more or less. It was fun, and for the first time I actually watched all of the debates.

According to a quick search, I've created 21 threads, and the largest one almost made it to 300 posts. Admittedly, it was about homosexuality, so it was pretty much guaranteed to go on forever and ever. Then there was the thread about Freedom fries, where I was accused of being an America-hating bastard for using the word "USian", even though the thread was started as an attempt to dispell the myth (oft perpetuated by America-hating bastards) of freedom fries.
My favorite, however, remains my essay about Homophobia (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=464872), if only because of the amount of serious responses and criticism it got (I think it might even have gone to moderation, but I'm too lazy to check).

So it looks like I owe my "success" here primarily to gays. Thanks for all the fish shaped dildoes, guys.

As it is, the longest one with 200 replies was my tribute/4000th post to TIN (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=396778) and my coolest thread was a random thread about Klonor (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=375758) that will make no sense to anyone.

1016 posts.

;)

the second largest was my more recent "taking a break" thread (totally didn't stay gone as long as I thought I could) and it had 459-ish posts.

most of my other threads are not as long, I did from the 200 I found an average and it's about 120 posts per thread, some of them being very long, with 200+ posts and a few that have two posts (most of those are in moderation)

I have no clue how many threads I have started.......way too many.

Well, leaving aside the threads I accidentally expropriated when Jolt was acting up, the most posts I've ever gotten in a thread of mine was in the one about how the people who say they're trying to stop climate change are really just trying to castrate you.

Probably the "most successful" in terms of interesting discussion, though it didn't last very long, was an earlier thread about accepting religion against what you accept to be rationally the case, and the legitimacy of such a suspension of reason.

My most "popular" thread, surprisingly, is the "Fox News to air right-wing Daily Show rip-off this Sunday (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=518313)" thread with 395 posts. Of course, that may just be because it got bumped when the show actually aired, and then filled up with anti-Fox vitriol...

Other great ones with 100+ replies:

I've noticed in my short time here that there's a pretty general rule that there's 10 views per 1 reply no matter the thread. The really long ones tend to drop in terms of that that ratio but it's generally pretty good until about 700 replies.

Is that just accepted common knowledge?

I've started 1 thread, it was deleted by Mods (no complaints from me) within a couple of hours, hence I don't think it technically counts as a thread.

Not sure I'll bother in future.

Apart from that one there are 68 more threads altogether, with the three biggest being about the Soccer World Cup Semifinals between Italy and Germany (31 pages, half of which was annyoing flamey bs), that disgusting library tasering incident (32 pages), and a "What thread would you like to see made?" spam fest (34 pages).

We had people actually there posting, and everyone chipping in the latest news (mixed with their opinions). A great example of the internet at its best.

For the number of posts and intellectual debate, I'd say my 'argument against God (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=523059)' thread did best, although admittedly I never picked a single side to stay on throughout it all (yep, that's right. I argued with atheists and theists despite beginning by attempting to disprove God. Now that's what I call philosophy).

My first and only thread hijack (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=523283) (the mods made mine the first post, which makes it my hijack *nods*) was pretty good too.

I enjoyed my reactions to alien contact (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=519223) thread as well; it was mildly amusing and I got sigged! Sadly Luporum then changed his sig and got rid of my bit... :(

Lastly, my obituary thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=516911). Fairly popular, relatively amusing and even spawned a copycat thread a while later (can't find the link to the copycat...).

I enjoyed those threads.

I don't like doing threads because they'll die out fast since I don't have the energy to stick around and debate or to even try to keep it alive if it's going bad. I've done two or three threads since I became a member and they've all died fast since they've had obvious answers or because they weren't that serious.
