You're pretty slow on reading the news.
BAGHDAD, Iraq - A suspected suicide bomber blew himself up in the Iraqi parliament cafeteria in a stunning assault in the heart of the heavily fortified, U.S.-protected Green Zone on Thursday, killing at least eight people, including two lawmakers, the American military said. At least 10 other people were wounded.
It would appear that security isn't what it should be despite any toughening, eh?

I think Bush needs to find and employ Baghdad Bob.
"There is nothing going wrong in Iraq. Things are improving."
Oh wait, that's Tony Snow, Dick Cheney, and John McCain.

Just got on a little while ago and didn't see another thread on it. If I missed it than I will give an "oops".

Ah Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf. That Information minister duplicitly lied with a straight and candid face right into our infidel hearts.
He lives in the United Arab Emirates now. Works on Abu-Dhabi TV I think.

It is certainly something that makes you want to shake your head in disgust that things like this happen while at the same time people like McCain claim that there are neighborhoods where Americans can walk around safe. As long as you are surrounded by U.S. troops like he was you're safe anyway...
Not to mention a few gunships.

I wouldn't be surprised if the insurgent groups that have recently refrained themselves ever since the start of the U.S. surge are in fact being emboldened to attack when they hear such piffle just to prove them wrong. The market McCain visited was rocked by a bomb blast a day later I think.

I would just like to see acknowledgment that Iraq is not anywhere close to being something that can be called "safe". That living in the country is very dangerous and that even in the Green Zone you have a good chance of suffering a bad case of being dead.

I just love Bush's take on this:
"I strongly condemn the action. It reminds us, though, that there is an enemy willing to bomb innocent people and a symbol of democracy,"

As opposed to a working government, just a symbol. Sad.
