:(

But anyway, how much time and effort do you spend on your appearance? Are you the time that gets up at 4 in the morning and fuss over every little hair, or do you wake up just early enough to get dressed and eat before you have to get to wherever?

I'd have to say that I'm definately the latter, I refuse to get up early in the morning to have a shower, I'll shower the night before. Haircuts are also few and far between, I got one about 3 weeks ago and I've no intention of getting another one this year. Same goes for shaving, that happens maybe once a month.

...and happy, and merry and bright! They should never have cancelled those adverts for throat lozenges.

And to answer the OP: none at all. I'm on holiday. I haven't even been bothered to brush my teeth yet, and my mouth tastes horrible. I haven't even combed my hair in a week, either, and it looks exactly the same as it does when I do comb it. Odd, no?

And I always shower/bath the night before, so I both miss my mum/sister watching those awful reality TV programmes and get up later in the morning!

None.

I've been "working" for nearly two hours and I've not got dressed yet.

Just as well I work from home, really ;)

I have a bath every 2-3 days (no shower and on a meter, and nobody's around to smell me :p) and shave just before I see my girlfriend, ie. 1-2 times per month. My hair's usually less than an inch long, so no combing or brushing required :)

I spend maybe half an hour at most. Shower, teeth, shave, brush hair, get dressed. Though I rarely actually need to do anything during the day, so it usually takes longer. Something in the form of: shower, check NSG, teeth, shave, check NSG, brush hair, check NSG, dressed. That takes about two hours. :p

Shower every morning (water's hotter then than it is later in the day), brushing teeth morning and evening, blow-dry hair only when time allows (that is, every other time max.), washing my face for the night, no make-up, usually.. let's say I'm clean, taken care of and good-smelling, but not primped. A natural beauty needs not much fussing ;p

i get up an hour before i have to catch my bus. i shower 10-20 minutes, because it's refreshing and because i like to take showers and also because stinking sucks. i also brush my teeth after i eat. that's about all i do to my appearance. oh, and i shave when i think my 'beard' becomes to visible. if i had more facial hair i wouldn't shave i think, but i only have hair on my chin and it doesn't look good when it's long.
i also get up early because i don't like to stress to catch my bus.

I take very long showers. Then I sit and air dry. Then I make sure I don't look like Alfalfa. Then I put on my deodorant. Then I get dressed. Then I spary myself with cologne twice. Then I put my hoodie on. Then one tiny spay of cologne.

Then I walk outside and get in the car and notice how many fuzzies are all over my clothes. Then I curse a few times.

On schooldays, I simply get up, spend some time in front of my computer if I have time to, get dressed, chug a cup of tea, then get on my way.

Otherwise, I get up when I do (sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the day, sometimes at night), eat something sugary and tasty and drink soda or coffee as avaliable at some point, and spent my time in front of my computer.

Bathing or showering takes place at irregular, variable intervals usually around once every 1-4 days.

The shaving usually only happens once a week (or more, if by some miracle I've got two job interviews in a week). And the only reason I shower more than twice a week is so I can wash my hair...in which case I have to brush it as well.

And yes, I get dressed! Usually because I do eventually get cold sitting around butt-naked in front of my laptop.

I can't be bothered to shave more than once every two weeks, something which is always commented on whenever I go out. I prefer being weirdy beardy than wierdy face-cut-to-shreds.

I fucking hate that! Though it doesn't help that a lot of my shirts are black. :p

I can wake up, shower, brush my teeth and be dressed inside of 20 minutes, and that's despite my long, tangly hair.

Occasionally I take longer, but only on the odd occasion where I shave, or if I'm going somewhere where I have to go with more formal attire.

My hair's really long and tangly too. If I'm in a rush I usually let it air-dry (I wash it every second day) and it's curly. If I can be bothered I'll blow-dry and straighten or curl with curlers. It all depends on my mood, really.

People probably think I put a lot of time into my appearance, but I rarely wear more makeup than a little mascara and I usually wear whatever fits. It just so happens that my wardrobe works well, otherwise I'd be in trouble!

Let me put it this way: I originally cut my hair short to fit properly under a fencing coif. I don't fence any more, but my hair's still short. I'm lazy as hell in the morning, an anything beyond keeping it from sticking up in too many directions at once is usually beyond my willingness to make the effort. As for makeup... Gack. My skin's bad enough without piling a bunch of crap on it every day. And see above re: lazy.

Okay I am never ever going to see any of you in real life... Seriously, showering once every 4 days??? How can people stand been around you? although guess that explains why you're on NSG

It takes me about an hour and 30 minutes to get ready in the morning:
8:00 - wake up
8:10 - hit snooze
8:20 - hit snooze
8:30 - turn off alarm intending to get up
8:50 - wake up just realizing I turned off the alarm
8:51 - shave if needed if not, sleep for 5 more minutes
8:56 - jump into shower (4 minutes max... bloody water restrictions... in that time shampoo, soap, rinse)
9:05 - Eat somthing, drink a glass of milk/juice whilst checking email, forums and online newspaper
9:20 - realise I have to be at work in 10 minutes...
9:21 - clean teeth, check hair looks semi reasonable
9:25 - get in car and go to work

That's for school though. Otherwise it's wake up, drink tea, possibly eat breakfast before lunch, possibly get dressed before supper.

hmm well... i didn't think i spent that long, but looking at some of the posts in this thread maybe i ought to reconsider....

every morning i have a bath (we have no shower), wash and condition my hair, shave (most mornings), brush teeth, brush hair (i have long hair so it takes a while).

that, to me, is the bare minimum. or, actually, is also the maximum cos i rarely do more than that. i just kinda throw on whatever clothes take my fancy and/or are closest, wear the same jeans for at least a week at a time, and in other ways tend not to bother with my appearance all that much

well i usually shower in the afternoon cuz that's when i wake up, and then brush my teeth and muss my hair up with a bit of hair wax. i shave/trim facial hair about once or twice a week. then i get dressed at some point too. all this takes me ages cuz i am slow and lazy rather than because i'm particularly concerned with what i look like. today i woke up at quater to 4 and i'm still in bed checking facebook, emails and NSG. i would have got up earlier to quell my hunger but then i found some chocolate and irn bru that i could reach without leaving the duvet so i've had that instead.

it's difficult for me to differentiate the time spent getting myself ready and the time spent running around after the kids trying to motivate them to get ready....it all takes about an hour and a half, but what portion of that is solely mine I have no clue. I would guess less than half.......

*counts*

I take about a 10-15 minute shower, my make up takes about 20 minutes, dry my hair, roll it, spray it, brush it, rat it, tease it, spray it, spray it spray it....

hmm......about an hour.....if I am not doing my hair though, I guess just the 15 minute shower and 45 seconds for sunscreen and lip gloss.

45 minutes/day I guess.

Usualy at least 20 minutes to shower, plus 15 minutes to shave every two days. 5 to 10 minutes once a week to clip my hand nails, 5 to 10 minutes every three weeks to clip my foot nails.

Plus taking hair out of my nose, about 5 minutes/week. Then I have to take some hair out of my body, which takes about 20 minutes/week.

Then I wear suncream sometimes before going out, then cream sometimes before going to bed. Well, that is it.

It depends. If I'm just staying home, then about the most I'll do is take a shower and brush my hair and teeth. If I'm particularly lacking in energy, or if it's particularly cold, I'll sometimes skip the shower or the hair-brushing. If I'm actually leaving the house, then I'll shower, blow-dry my hair (only sometimes, though - that's the first thing to get cut from my morning routine if I'm running at all late), throw on whatever clothes happen to be clean, brush my hair and teeth, and put on a little makeup. If somehow I happen to have spare time, which I pretty much never do, I might braid or otherwise attractively arrange my hair.

No matter what, though, my showers are always looooooong. I'm constitutionally incapable of hurrying up in the shower. :p

My grooming depends entirely upon what's happening. If it's just getting into college, I wake up with exactly enough time for a cup of tea and a shower. Fuck looking good for lectures quite frankly, what's the god damn point. After that, I'll put hair shit in to look passable as human for going out drinking or seeing certain individuals, but that's it. My mates have all seen me wake up on their sofas covered in vomit, I don't think it'd make a difference to them how I look.

If I have to get up for work or something, I put the alarm to an hour before I have to leave and get up some 5-10 minutes later.

It's shower & wash hair, brush teeth, brush hair (different brushes, natch), wrap hair in towel, apply moisturizer to face, apply body lotion, get dressed, apply make up. Ideally, it's blow dry my hair then because it looks ratty if I don't, but since I slept in those 5-10 minutes they're lacking at this point so usually it just stays looking ratty.

Net in-bathroom time is about 35 minutes, the rest is filled with checking email if I'm not running late, shoveling down some cornflakes if I'm not running late, checking NSG if I'm not running late, and running around like a headless chicken especially if I'm running late.

:pGod, yes, the infamous NSG "Yes, I'm still in the process of getting ready" morning lag.

Worst if it hits at the point where I'm still wrapped in my towel because I'll be sitting there freezing, my skin feeling like it's turning into a desert, my hair drying in tangles.

I hate NSG.

I'd take about 20-30 minutes getting ready-- ie, using acne stuff, brushing teeth, and brushing/straightening hair. I don't take showers in the mornings, only at night. In the mornings I have to wait for my sister to get out of the bathroom, which is why I don't take showers (because then I'd be late for the bus).

Haircuts are also few and far between, I got one about 3 weeks ago and I've no intention of getting another one this year. Same goes for shaving, that happens maybe once a month.

Ya sure do have a purdy mouth! http://www.freesmileys.org/emo/happy075.gif

Try imagining the longshoreman's version ;)
Maybe I'll see about recording that for Fass's "voice" thread . . .

You should.

God, yes, the infamous NSG "Yes, I'm still in the process of getting ready" morning lag.

Worst if it hits at the point where I'm still wrapped in my towel because I'll be sitting there freezing, my skin feeling like it's turning into a desert, my hair drying in tangles.

I hate NSG.

lol i used to be terrible at coming here while getting dressed. these days i'm better and tend to come on here just after waking up (saaaaaad, i know :() but don't come on again till i get to work (hehe)... after i start getting ready i don't stop or i'll be hours and hours.... and hours...
[/rambling incoherent sentence]

oh and i also hate not brushing my teeth in the morning. sad thing is i'm often too lazy to do it first thing meaning that horrible taste goes on and on... :(

For me it's out of bed, brush hair, shower, dry off, brush/floss/mouthwash my teeth, apply body lotion and deodorant, blow dry/style my hair, apply makeup, put on clothes, watch and any jewelry, make the bed, feed the dog, put shoes on and rush out the door. Time from getting out of bed til I'm out the door: about an hour.
