After discussions with women, and hearing things from other eaqually reliable sources, I've gotten the impression that many women believe that most men prefer women with big tits. Just recently I had a talk with my friend's girlfriend about this, and she supported the claim, based on the fact that many men try to pick her up by complimenting her (admittedly large) breasts.

Now, I don't believe this to be true, based on my own opinion and the results of a similar poll I did on another forum. I intend to get to the bottom of this, and find out the truth once and for all. But as my high-school physics teacher said, one measurement is no measurement, and therefore I will repeat the question here to get a wider range of opinions.

Notice: I'm sure most of us agree that while a certain size is the most pleasing to our eyes/hands, personality/the whole package matters more and therefore breast size shouldn't be an issue when choosing a girlfriend. If this is your opinion, DO NOT vote for the "doesn't matter" option. That option is reserved for those, who really have no preference whatsoever. The purpose of the poll is to find out what you like, not what you require.

I hate oversized breasts, but tiny ones stink just as much. I like a balance. Breasts that have a good size, but not something that'll swallow your face whole.

I picked average, because shape and firmness are vastly more important than size and when you're in the average range there are the fewest factors to detract from the ideal teardrop shape.

Though coincidentally, I did read an article today about the richly illustrated book "The Big Book of Breasts" by Dian Hanson today, in which she explores mens fascination with breasts, mostly big ones. It was interesting and kinda enlightening (in several ways, actually :)) - but it did not provide an answer to your question about the confusing OP, did it? I think not!

Really, really depends on the size and build of the girl. Generally I like a B cup on shorter girls and a C cup on larger girls, usually in the 32-38 range. However, I don't mind smaller breasts at all. What I DO care about is shape, they can't sag much (a little is okay if the girl has a large chest) and they can't be implants (the cantaloupe-encased-in-skin isn't natural and looks grotesque.)

No such thing as a bad boob. Has never really mattered to me. You like the girl, you tend to like the boobs that come with, whether watermelon sized or just nipples on a plank of wood, or even deflated balloons pinned to a wall. :)

But given the choices, I'd have to go with a small set of perkies (as the kids say these days). Small/handsize > average> flat >large >humongous > concave > chiseled pecs. All this, of course, goes out the window depending on the build of the woman.

I'm not that much of a breast-man, I guess. Perhaps I should have more stringent criteria. But I don't think so.

Well, in short, she traced it back to the novel Emile by Rosseau, which made it trendy for french upper-class women to breastfeed their own children (Going further back I'm sure you'll find a lot of stuff about fertility and the likes, but apparently this is where she starts) and links it to the Freaudian oral-phase - as we all know he thought that breastfeeding gave sexual satisfaction - and implies that americans (primarily and for the most part) continues to chase breasts since they were mostly bottle fed at a young age.

She then analysed the development of pin-up girls from the first topless nude appearing in an american magazine in 1925 through the girls appearing in magazines during the first and second world war and notes that the breasts kept getting bigger (though they were mostly covered at this time). She speculates that the rationale behind this was to give the soldiers a form of closeness due to their lack of, shall we say a womans touch? But because the closeness you get from a magazine is insufficient they would make the breasts as big as possible, in an effort to remedy this flaw.

The breasts continued to grow, and after the war if was first the bosomy strippers and then later on it was movies that made the big impact. Cue Howard Huges then, of course, Russ Meyer in the 50's and the great time of Sexploitation. (Killed off by porn making it's way onto the scene in the 80's)

Bras and breast-implants made it easier for women to be noticed and to have the big breasts that men seemed to lust for, but the fascination seems to be the same today as back in the day.

In the end, she claims that the (american) audience today is split 50/50 on whether or not they like big breasts.

Some of that is pretty interesting, though I can't for the life of me make sense of the first part. I think (and yeah, no, I don't have any sources or actual knowledge or other such negligible trivialities <.<) it's ludicrous to put a starting point to male fascination with female breasts. Eh, I prefer them large, but not rediculously so; but then again I'm not too fussy either. If the girl in question is nice, loyal, and fun to have around I care less or not at all about their breast size.

doesn't matter to me especially but i think perhaps completely flat chested is a turn-off, as are fake boobs. although it's hardly something i consider of prime importance. there are plenty of other characteristics that outweigh breast size in my estimation of a woman in terms of being a possible sexual partner.

For me, someone's face is most important, followed closely by ass/legs. Then, boobs come in third. I chose "Large, but not ridiculously so", but realizing that most women actually fall into smaller categories, bleh, I don't really give a shit.

Personally, I'm far more concerned with being able to get my hands on them than what size they are. Though, I do think that they should be proportional to the woman's body. Smaller women tend to look better with smaller breasts and vice-versa. Still, it's not something that'd make or break the relationship.

I generally prefer small or average breasts. Both tiny and larger sizes are off-putting to me for some reason.

As has been stated before, it's really the whole package that needs to be considered, face, body, legs, rear, etc. The breasts are part of it but are influenced by too many other factors to make it a constant preference throughout all situations.

For me, it's less about absolute size than it is size relative to the rest of the woman. A petite woman with average-size breasts will appear to have larger breasts than a tall woman with average-size breasts.

Firmness is also a factor. Nice, firm, tight breasts are better than floppy breasts, whatever the size.

But the most important factor for me isn't breast size, it's overall physical shape. A young woman in good health with good muscle tone will almost always be attractive, regardless of breast size. And as a previous poster said, they probably won't have large breasts. But they will usually have firm breasts. ;)

All of that being said, my wife is 5'11" tall and her bra size is 44 DD. (When she was nursing our son, her nursing bras were size 48 H, which actually depressed her - "H for Hippopotamus", she called it.)

After discussions with women, and hearing things from other eaqually reliable sources, I've gotten the impression that many women believe that most men prefer women with big tits. Just recently I had a talk with my friend's girlfriend about this, and she supported the claim, based on the fact that many men try to pick her up by complimenting her (admittedly large) breasts.

Now, I don't believe this to be true, based on my own opinion and the results of a similar poll I did on another forum. I intend to get to the bottom of this, and find out the truth once and for all. But as my high-school physics teacher said, one measurement is no measurement, and therefore I will repeat the question here to get a wider range of opinions.

Actually most of the answers that complimented the example girls, were for the average and large-chested girls, none for the small one. Also, the example pictures were of more or less famous nude models, so no fat women among them. (Nor implants, as far as I can tell.)
