God I miss football.

We're well into the dry season now, and all I've got to tide me over is the AFC Champions League, UEFA Champions League, Euro 2008 Qualifiers, EPL, Bundesliga, and the odd scrap of news from Melbourne Victory. Aus-Arg in June too.

What do you guys usually do to pass the time during your sport's off-season?

If you don't, then you'll have seriously fucked up. IIRC, three of your remaining four games are pretty much nailed-on Mackem wins, and the other is Colchester at Layer Road.

Which you'll lose.

I hope. Colchester United for the Premiership!

As for 'the dry season', Mr. Potato Factory, you've got two leagues in your list there. How's that 'dry'? As far as I can see, there's stuff to look forward to until early June (when there are the last EC qualifiers until the new season). Then it's only a month until pre-season friendlies start again in the UK.

Lucky for me, the football season goes for about 10 months. There's not very much down-time, and that is filled with the AFL anyway.

I support Arsenal and Colchester. However, I haven't been to an Arsenal match in years, because I can't afford it (£50 for a ticket, plus about £40 for travel). Colchester I can go see whenever I'm staying with my parents...so about twice a year. Sure, the atmosphere's great, but if I'm going to be paying almost £100, it's going to have to be fucking special. If I could afford it, I'd go. But I can't.

Probably something to do with the quality of football, plus the general cost of living here as well. And they've got to pay the players' wages somehow...

Bullcrap quality. We're one of the best leagues in Asia.

It's because we get dirt-cheap stadium rental and because the A-League is only two years old.

Best leagues in Asia doesn't mean shit. When you can say that the A-League would be one of the best leagues in Europe is when you can start to compare its quality to that of the EPL (or serie A, or La Liga, or the Bundesliga...or even Ligue 1, the Eredivisie, the Portuguese Liga, etc).

That sounds like professional American sports. I can see my local team (Angers SCO) for about 5-10 Euros depending on where I sit. Of course, Angers isn't a really high class team.

Yeah, it gets cheaper the further down the league you go. My other team (Colchester) charge about £10-£15, and they're mid-table in the Championship (one division below the Premiership). Admittedly, they're an anomaly in that division, but still...

Errr....that might be....but Asian teams would get spanked in a professional league in Europe or South America and most probably Africa as well....AT THE MOMENT.

Shouldn't be there? I think we came 2nd in League One last year on merit. Plus, look where we are now. Three points off the playoffs with 4 games left. Ten points from those four games (easier said than done, as we've got Sunderland at home and Stoke away still to go), and we could easily be in the playoffs.

Imagine. Manchester United having to come to Layer Road...*dreams* :p

By all accounts, you'd only have until November to get Cockoo farm (how the fuck is that spelt?:D ) operational, and then it's off to Portman Road with you.;)

However, just seeing the look on Ashley Cole or Rio's face in the away dressing room would be priceless.

Cuckoo Farm. And that's Poorman Road...;)

Erm, yeah, I know. Layer Road is barely fit for League football, let alone Championship. :p

Cuckoo Farm should be ready by Christmas 2008. They've not even started building the bloody thing yet.

Glad to hear that London is cleaner now (it seemed really bad when I was there). I did enjoy my stay very much.

Yep, there are plenty of dangerous animals here, yet people still try to go up to a 5ft male kangeroo that is near a small group of females then gets suprised that he has broken ribs or is nearly disemboweled. Or going up to a koala in a tree.

So... Back to the topic.

I hope that the other states get some training done to prepare for the next season so that there will be a proper match rather than the coasting that ocurred.

I mean 6-nil? For the grand final? That just shows poor quality training (or bad luck).
