I have an exam today and I think that doctors have better things to do than look at my finger.

No, I'd just gotten up and then when I went to take a shower, it started feeling like it would if I had a burn on my finger. I doubt it was a matter of the water being too hot because the rest of me was fine... and then the feeling has persisted.
