Honestly, the last few years of my life have been amazing and for the most part, blessed. I have few complaints. But part of me misses the weird and wacky days between ages 18 and 22. *nod*

But you know sometimes-sometimes in your life, shit just happens, you know? You know it does. I mean, you're just going along, living your own life, living in your house, just minding your own business, suddenly, KAPOW! Your whole life explodes. Just like in -uh, Well, but then, what are you gonna do? You gonna give up? You gonna just call it a day? No. No, no, that's not what we do. No, we rally. We-we turn it all around. Because we're Americans. We take those grenades and we turn 'em into lemonade. Because that's what distinuighes us from sand crabs. We keep going.Cheer up.

18 was pretty good. i had a great time yesterday and i actually said to one of my friends it was just like when we were 18, spending the whole day together, getting drunk on the beach then going to the pub and just not worrying about anything cuz we didn't have anything to worry about. or at least i'd temporarily forgotten all the things i have to worry about. 22 ain't great for me.

You have access to a computer and if you're in that economic level, you probably have a roof over your head and food in your belly. Don't be such a fucking ingrate. You're better off than more than half the people in the world. Get some perspective on life.

Chill with the Marxist self-righteous "plight of the prole" rhetoric.

There is nothing about the fact that some people ALWAYS have things worse economically or physically than you that means people can't have "bad things" happen to them. Your problem seems to be here assuming that the only people capable or "worthy" of feeling down, depressed, traumatized are those without computers, or without a twentieth century American material background - and then you get this haughty, "don't be a fucking ingrate" accusations to boot.

Yes, one might be better off than a lot of people.

No, this doesn't make your kind of flamy venting acceptable.

If you know, when you wake up in the morning, that you're going to get at least two full meals that day, then you have a pretty decent life compared to most people on this planet. That's just simple fact. So acknowledge that. I'm not saying bad shit can't happen, or even that lots of people may have it better than you. Lots of people have it better than me, and I don't begrudge them that (unless they bitch about how shitty their lives are). But I never forget that my life is as good as it is largely because I was lucky enough to be born where I was, something I had fuck-all to do with.

A Marxist perspective. "You have no right to complain, you borgeouise scum, for lo, the proletariat slaveth!"

That's essentially what you're saying, and it really doesn't help at all. YOUR MOM DIES. "Well get some perspective, at least you have running water!" Someone says shit like that to me I about a death in the family and I punch them.

That's just simple fact. So acknowledge that.

Nonsense. Happiness, mental health, disorder, unhappiness, none of those things are directly correlated to GDP as you seem to be implying. Not even a diehard capitalist like me is going to suggest something that dumb. In fact, those who live in the West tend to have vastly higher rates of depression and suicide. So maybe, just maybe, it's you who needs some perspective.

But I never forget that my life is as good as it is largely because I was lucky enough to be born where I was, something I had fuck-all to do with.

Good for you. Irrelevant to you being an ass to people for no reason at all.

course my form teacher and the caretaker did everything they could to make my life hell and I got a boner in a P.E lesson :(:p

My favorite age was when I was 11 during the summer. I basically stayed at my grandma's house all day with 2 of my cousins and watched cartoons like Darkwing Duck and Tale Spin. I'd get home at about 10 pm at night and play Star Wars Dark Forces until midnight. Once a week my grandpa would drive all of us over to the bookstore and I would spend hours reading comics and video game magazines. I think I gained about 10 pounds that summer because my grandma would cook as much food as we could eat.

I think the summer before that was quite interesting too. I was at my babysitter's house all day playing snes and watching sailor moon.
