I just got a new Samsung 226bw LCD monitor. 22 inch widescreen, 3000(yes, three thousand!):1 Contrast Ratio and a 2ms refresh rate. It is gorgeous and very affordable. :)

Affordable for a middle-aged goofball with a secure, full-time job, or affordable for a 21 year old student who delivers pizzas?

Oh, monitors. Right.

Sorry, I had to.

I suppose that depends where your financial priorities lie. In my opinion, at that age, that would be money better spent on transportation(a car), alchohol and women. But if you were an asexual teatotaling homebody 21 year old student, I think this might be a reasonable investment. :)

Of course you did. You and I both know the phrasing of my title is no accident. ;)

I thought it was a barrel...

An OK monitor, the only problem it is on TN+film. I personally prefer Eizo ColorEdge CE240W :-P

Well, I'm about to buy a car these next few weeks, so even a new pair of underpants is sorta outside my budget right now. But I think that after all the upgrading I've done to my PC over the years to be able to play all these new games, at some point it might be time for my "Eizo FlexScan F550i-W" to retire.

It started off connected to a 486. :p

My Samsung is only 19" and 8ms refresh, but it's also 3 years old . . .

Good for you. I already have a large widescreen monitor.

My nVidia 7600GT can drive a 2560x1600 but my lousy 17" can only do 1280 x 1024.

$329 for 22 inch with a 2ms refresh rate? Where the hell did you steal that from and lose 329$?

Surprisingly enough, Best Buy! I say surprisingly, because as many who have been there can attest to, they rarely live up to their name. But every once in a while, they have a decent bargain. Which is why I still occasionally browse through. Now for the kicker: The particular one I picked up was an open boxed item. Best Buy charges the original price for open box items, but issues a gift card as an incentive. They are very thorough with their returns and it has the same return policy and warrantee as an unopened package. So in addition, I also have a $35 giftcard. :)

Is a warrantee a cross between a warranty and a guarantee?

Sweet monitor. I currently have a Dell 1703FP monitor (17", 600:1 contrast ratio, 1280x1024). I wish I could upgrade it to something like what you just got, but I need a new processor, mobo, and video card first.

Also on 22" here. It's a wonderful size screen, immersive, but not ridiculous when browsing the 'net, either. The fact that it actually fits in my desk is also a bonus. :) I've got a BenQ panel, though. But I've had no issues with it whatsoever. Cost me $500 (Australian dollars, mind). Can now get it for about $420 at the same place, but it's still cheaper than most places (I buy computer stuff from the cheapest place in town, and I do not kid when I say they are CHEAP.
