Lets have an intelligent post in this thread. At least one.

You can't have a best movie. You just can't. There are too many different genre's for there to be a best movie. You can have a best 'Shock Comedy Movie', or best 'Psychological Thriller Movie'. But you definitely can't have a best movie.
Mikesburg

There are so many damn good movies out there. I find my favourite depends on my mood.

Current top three (off the top of my head) are Glory, Pulp Fiction, and The Professional.

In a few hours, I may change my mind, and label 'This is Spinal Tap' as the world's greatest cinematic masterpiece.

I recognize the title, but was that a Joel or a Mike era film? I'm a Joel-era person myself.

Anyway, this thread is a bad attempt at trolling, unless the two options were meant seriously in which case the thread creator needs to seriously open himself up to better cinema than C-movie films.

I recognize the title, but was that a Joel or a Mike era film? I'm a Joel-era person myself.

It was Season 8, so it was Mike-era. Personally, I like Mike's episodes better, but that's mainly because I started watching the show when he was on the air back in 1997/1998.

For that matter, I still need to buy some more seasons on DVD.

It's a matter of taste...the reason I liked the Joel era better has mainly to do with the cameraderie between the bots and the general friendliness of the humor. That and I really like Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank--especially the invention exchange--and I really don't like Observer and Bobo, though I'm neutral on Pearl.

That's not to say I hate Mike-era style humor...hell, I've been loving each Rifftrax I've been viewing and that's all Mike, Keven Murphy, and Bill Corbett. I'll probably like the Film Crew(an essential MST3K 2.0 type of thing) as well.

There are MST3K episodes available as bitorrents, but I'm sure you knew that. They can be amazingly difficult to get ahold of, though...it's frustrating.

...what? Out of everything you could watch, that is your favorite movie?! Setting aside whether Star Wars is a good story or not for a moment, that movie was BORING! It drug on so poorly I was barely able to force myself to watch the entire thing from beginning to end! And then of course you have the plot device that was old way before Star Wars, the "I am your father!" bit that was supposed to be the climax, but it just wasn't interesting.

I'm sorry, but when it comes to the Star Wars films, even relatively speaking, The Empire Strikes Back is terrible, boring and severely overrated.

I saw Episode I a few nights ago and wow. I've never seen a worse movie in my life.

Episode II was pretty god aweful bad as well, although Samuel Jackson vs Babafet...epic in name only.

III was wretched, marred even further by Anakin's acting. I don't see how people can call this 'good'. Somehow the true Star Wars movies actually saved this from falling among the ranks of Ecks vs Sever and Babygeniuses II.

Yes, all three of them are pretty damn bad. Of course, since Episode 3 wasnt nearly as bad as the awfull Episode I, we consider it to be "good" (even if nowhere near as good as the first trilogy).

AnakinĀ“s actor was lame beyond reason. The fight between the emperor and Samuel Jackson was laughable ("INFINITE POWER" or "NOOOOOOOOO" said by the emperor with a childish lame voice).

You make a good point. However, Jaws 4 features a shark that is about as convincing as an Irish theme pub and, mysteriously, has both the ability and the inclination to follow someone halfway around the world for no reason. Even Michael Caine can't make it good.
Oh, and I'd love to have been present at the 'how are we going to kill the shark this time?' meeting. I could have identified the person who came up with: "I know, let's just have them steer a really slow moving yacht into it," and hit them. Repeatedly.

Gone with the wind is the best movie of all time, it has a war, stuck up 'irish', sticking it to the man, carpet baggers and a 22 month pregnancy what more could one want in a movie?

Though a true answer is impossible to find, my favourite is the Godfather (first one). The acting, directing, music, scenery are breathtaking, IMO.

I've never heard of the drinking game, but it sounds like fun! :D

Google it: princess bride drinking game.
Basically, you have to drink whenever certain words or phrases are spoken. 'Inconceivable', 'true love', 'dread pirate Roberts', that kind of thing.
Mind you, the version we played used even more phrases than the versions which Google seems to find.
