Danny Trejo, who's had bit parts as a Mexican gangster, a hit man, and a vampire in loads of movies is finally going to star in his own film.

I bet they still won't let him say more than a dozen words throughout the whole movie.
Poor guy. Just a mean, mute Mexican bad guy all his life.
I like this quote (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machete_%28film%29): "One of the things I love about it is well there is blacksploitation but in America there wasn’t a mexsploitation. Machete is definitely a mexsploitation film."

cool.
Always thought he was a damn good actor.
Certainly looked and felt the part of a tough gangster. Of course, with his past, he didn't need to act that much to look like a tough gangster.
you know he's 63!
btw, linky no work.

That's cool, he's been in several films I like (and From Dusk Til Dawn, which is just silly)...including Desperado, which I only remember for the rocket launcher inside the guitar case...:p

Just looking through his profile on IMDB:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001803/
Not only is he 63 this year, he's only 5'6"!
Yet pulls off looking tough and mean. truly he has film presence.
Also, he's appeared in over 100 movies.
Here's some good quotes from him:
"It was the funniest thing I'd ever heard. I'd been in Soledad, San Quentin, Folsom, Vacaville, Susanville, Sierra - and here's a guy asking 'Can you act like a convict?' I remember I said 'I'll give it a shot'"
[On being promoted from a $50/day extra to a $350/day boxing coach:] "How bad do you want this kid beat up?"
[After being told the actor might hit back:] "For $350 a day, give him a bat. I used to get beat up for free."

whoops. my bad.
edit:
he's 62, 10 months, 2 weeks and 5 days. Not 63.
The possibilities, oh the possibilities :D
And I'm looking forward to Sin City 2 where he will appear also :)

Now what would be sick, twisted and hilarious was if this Machete was the same one from the Spy Kids fillms.
Cannot think of a name

The link was an empty page on wiki. I thought that Machete was just a fake trailer in Grindhouse as part of the authenticy of the film. I don't believe it's intended as a trailer to a real film.

Machete is a spinoff film from the trailer that Robert Rodriguez wrote and directed for the Grindhouse movies that he and Quentin Tarantino made. It will star Danny Trejo and be released direct-to-DVD when the Grindhouse movies will also be released on DVD.

I loved his advice to Bubble Boy. Something like "If he's messing with your old lady, legally you're allowed to cut the vato".
