So yeah. Tomorrow (Saturday) I'm getting married.

What's weird is that I don't feel particularly nervous or excited. It's just a sort of comfortable warm fuzzy anticipation. She and I have been together for a couple years so in a way it feels long overdue.

It's gonna be a simple ceremony with just my mom and my 3 kids in attendance. Afterwards we're going to Medieval Times for a celebratory dinner.

Is that weird? :D

Infidel! You are disrupting the religious arguments with a marriage thread!

*coughs*

So, yeah... Congratulations. :D

That's cool, although does your very-nearly-wife not have any family coming to the ceremony?

Hope it goes well. :)

Her family is back in Denver, and the Justice of the Peace only allows 4 guests anyway (how much does that suck?) We plan to have a more elaborate one back in Denver for her family and all of our friends later.

cool. ill save the congratulations for tomorrow.

it sounds very nice. i dont see any sense in going into debt for a huge wedding when you and your new wife can use the money/lack of debt to start your life together.

and what could be more fun than medieval times?

best wishes!

one question: Why are you not totally shit faced at your stags party?

Seeing you are not out, you better go now and get 1. some bottle of spirits, and 2. A shot glass...

We gotta get you smashed one last time before you get shackled into marriage

(and one first time)

See, that reminds me of the one thing that bums me out about this whole thing.

When I was 18 I got married for the first time. I selected a best man who failed miserably in terms of a bachelor party. Essentially we went out to a movie (I paid). That was IT friends.

This time, my 14 year old son is my best man, so clearly there won't be much in the way of festivities tonight. I mean, it's not like I have some well-defined idea of what I'd want in a bachelor party... I just wanted SOMETHING I could look back on and say "yeah... that was good times."

(I could have picked someone other than my son for a best man, but my friends, wonderful as they are, wouldn't have had enough notice to set anything up. (my fault, I know) This wedding is basically us eloping with a few days' notice.)

This month seems to be the NSG month for weddings and engagements. I'll probably be starting a thread like this towards the end of the month (assuming that I actually get on NSG that week).

Unless you are both chicks (or someone is getting aborted/sent to Iraq/something humourous about poop), this has no place on NSG. Spammer!

But, seriously... congratulations. (Except... maybe, for the Medieval Times bit. That is weird.)

Nah. There's no need to be nervous. After all, it's just a life-changing action that can have consequences for many generations to come...any and all possible decisions you make could affect many lives based on whatever children you have and their actions...then there's the potential for divorce and the resulting legal action that may alter events based on how much time it takes from lawyers and civil courts...and then you always have the potential heartbreak of a child or your spouse dying...

So, nah, nothing to be nervous about whatsoever. :)

You're evil. I like it.
