How about something a little cultural...
O me! What fray was here?
Yet tell me not, for I have heard it all.
Here's much to do with hate, but more with love.
Why then, O brawling love! O loving hate!
O anything, of nothing first create!
O heavy lightness! serious vanity!
Misshapen chaos of well-seeming forms!
Feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health!
Still-waking sleep, that is not what it is
This love feel I, that feel no love in this.

I can't people are getting the play wrong... to me it's just so obvious. Perhaps that's just because I've been in a production of the play before and had to hear these lines so many times.

Most comedic line from the play - 'I shall be brief'... followed by the biggest monologue in the entire play. >.<

I would say "free trade" (as if there could be any freedom in something as assymetric as trade is). "Free market" too, very similar. Or maybe "freedom to work more", as our lovely (*grin*) far right candidate Sarkozy loves to say... as if people would work "more" because they are free to chose, and not because they are forced to in order to pay for the always increasing bills...

"Equality of chances" is also not bad... if it's "chances", it means losers and winners, so no equality. Those two words together... or how to claim you want equality while doing what you can to widen inequalities.

That's the worst oxymorons I see in daily politics here.

French Resistence

Being in a political party which lost nearly 50 000 of its members fighting the Nazi occupation from inside France, disrupting the Nazi war effort and saving countless jews and others from the Holocaust, I cannot prevent but react most strongly to this absurdity ! I can accept many things and stay quiet, but NOT that you make fun or deny the memory of those who gave their lives for freedom.

I would only quote Guy Moquet's last words (leader of the Youth Communists who was executed with 26 of his comrades at the age of 17 for resisting against the Nazi) and hope they'll make you feel ashamed of what you just said: "Vous qui restez, soyez dignes de nous, les 27 qui allons mourrir" ("You all who remain, by worthy of us, the 27 who will die").

The rail systems in Europe are run by the government. The rail systems in the U.S., while not entirely privatised, are far more so than the ones in Europe.

The complete failure of the french regular army, the inadequacy of their strategy, the insanity of the Maginot line and so all is a fact, but it has nothing to do with the courage of the men who, even after official defeat, decided to give their lives to continue the fight against the Nazi, be it inside the country (the Resistance) or from the UK (the Free French Forces).
