*Official John McCain NS Support Base*

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:John_McCain_official_photo_portrait.JPG

The purpose of this thread is straightforward, too debate, discuss, and examine all aspects of the McCain Campaign in an environment of supporters. I simply ask that if you support Mr. McCain in his endeavor too achieve the Republican Nomination for president, that you state so, and elaborate in the respective poll.

Information on Mr. McCain can be found here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McCain)

Since the 2000 election, I have been a personal admirer of John McCain. Dating back too his captivity in Vietnam, too which he held strong with tremendous personal valor, to his congressional anti-torture initiative, which now dictates firm regulations and guidelines on POW interrogations and information extraction. His overall socially conservative views, matched with his overall leniency and collaborative spirit, has made me confident in saying I support Mr. McCain in his run.

This post is intended too be a discussion concerning the primary elections that are coming up, too discuss Mr. McCain, and indeed, too voice criticism and opposition too McCain's policies (which will be done in mature and sensible manners I am certain). I have been a member of NS for quite awhile now, and I feel that the upcoming Republican and Democratic primaries are going too be hotly contested as they have been in times past. I ran with the idea, as I have seen no threads which are structured explicitly in support of a certain candidate. My hope is that this thread will be kept alive with witty debate, news, etc. Concerning the Senator.

Thank you. If you wish too look furhter into the McCain campaign, please look here. (http://www.johnmccain.com/)

McCain is a dick. He insists that there are parts of Iraq that an American can stroll through without threat.

Complete BS.

McCain took a walk through Iraq in one of the "secure" markets that pose no threat...oh wait, he was accompanied by 100 soldiers, 3 black hawks, and two appaches.

McCain has already shown his incompetence, I don't know why anyone would support him.

Because they ignore all the bad points in favor of the few good ones. Whatever those are.

One glance at his website, namely the "issues" section, is enough to tell me that there's no chance in hell I'll vote for him. Maybe once he pulls Falwell's schlong out of his ass, and basically changes his mind about...everything, I'll be on board. Somehow I don't think that will happen though. Falwell seems to like it in there.

No, a Zuni rocket from an F-4 accidentally fired, striking McCain's A-4. Subsequently, the A-4s fuel tanks ruptured and cought fire, starting the famous fire on the Forrestal.

That's it. Man this guy has some shitty luck.

Q: “What about grants for sex education in the United States? Should they include instructions about using contraceptives? Or should it be Bush’s policy, which is just abstinence?”

Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “Ahhh. I think I support the president’s policy.”

Q: “So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence. Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV?”

Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “You’ve stumped me.”

Q: “I mean, I think you’d probably agree it probably does help stop it?”

Mr. McCain: (Laughs) “Are we on the Straight Talk express? I’m not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I’m sure I’ve taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was. Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception – I’m sure I’m opposed to government spending on it, I’m sure I support the president’s policies on it.”

Q: “But you would agree that condoms do stop the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Would you say: ‘No, we’re not going to distribute them,’ knowing that?”

Mr. McCain: (Twelve-second pause) “Get me Coburn’s thing, ask Weaver to get me Coburn’s paper that he just gave me in the last couple of days. I’ve never gotten into these issues before.”

McCain is barely right-wing at all, compared to some others: Pinochet, Franco, Salazar, Suharto, Mussolini, etc.

The fact that anyone, let alone a candidate for president, would ask Coburn's opinion on anything is...terrifying. Coburn is demented, plain and simple. He backed Alan Keyes in 2000 because, he said, Bush was too liberal.

Someone, please, get Mussolini on the phone for Senator Coburn...

Just out for a stroll in an average Iraqi neighborhood, where any American can walk unaccosted.

With 100 bodyguards, 2 helicopters, and a protective vest... And so long as one is willing to allow 21 innocent Iraqis to be killed in a revenge killing for the publicity stunt.

I've said it in every McCain thread, and will likely say it in every McCain thread that pops up, but I lost all respect for John McCain when he participated in the creation of the military commissions act of 2006. That's the act that allows American citizens to be held indefinitely without trial, and allows military tribunals for non citizens in which "coerced" evidence (read evidence gotten through waterboarding) may be used if the judge decides to allow it. It also specifically says that you can't use the Geneva Conventions as a source of rights.

Didn't he also crash his plane on a carrier causing the entire ship to go up?

No, the Forrest Fire resulted when an F-4 across the flight line suffered an electrical short. A Zuni rocket fired and struck McCain's A-4 Skyhawk. The impact caused the external tank full of JP-5 to drop from the plane. A massive fire erupted and McCain escaped just as the fireball erupted. He recieved burns.

The fire spread and old Comp B bombs cooked off. This put holes in the flight deck and JP5 fell into the holes spreading the fire below decks.

Even worse, the first explosion killed the fire brigade and untrained sailors sprayed water onto a Class Bravo fire. This not only spread the fire, but also blew the AFFF (which you are supposed to use for Class Bravo fires) off of the flight deck.

I used to have a slight respect for him when he actually stood for things and had convictions somewhat. He has slowly lost his spine, and balls with him meeting Jerry Falwell sealing the deal of him being a sell out. I can respect and possibly vote for someone with true convictions, even if I disagree with some of them. I don't have a whole lot of respect for those who change or backdown because its conveinet(sp?)

Or what about his supposed "anti-torture bill" aka, The McCain bill?

That is the biggest crock of shit i ever read. Check it up on the library of congress. He couldnt get this "anti-torture" bill to pass. And he really wanted to get his name out as an advocate for peoples rights. so when he realised it wouldnt pass, he allowed it to be changed to have the exception stating that the CIA was still allowed to torture "detainees".

I might have had a brain fart recently, But, werent the CIA the ones mainly torturing people in the first place?

I was totaly flabber ghasted.

And im upset about what this election is coming to. A stupid incompotent power hungry "anti torture" old guy, Or a **** (not the nice 4 letter curse word), who just like mccain wants power. I mean, why else would she have stayed with her husband.
