How many people here have skills in the net/web area?

I just wonder.

Depends on how many skills you need to qualify... I'm nowhere near an expert, but I've written HTML before, I've written a CGI app in C and something in that Microsofty server-side VB thing (both for University projects). To be honest I don't find it very interesting.

I've not done much network programming at all.

So overall, I'd say: I know very little about it, but still much more than most.

There are quite large distinctions between "internet" and "web", by the way...

I taught myself HTML/Javascript and PHP some time ago, and know abit about server organisation from my A level computing, but I don't use the skills much anymore.

i know how to put a site together and some basic HTML, but not much more than that.

here's (http://www.hljphotography.co.uk/bwindex.htm) a site i've (re)designed in the last few days :)

Wow, that's pretty well designed :)

thanks, i'm pretty proud of it :)
it sure beats my old/current site (http://www.hljphotography.co.uk/) anyway, which was always a bit sloppy...

i think i'm finally learning my lesson that - most of the time - simpler is better in web design. not throwing javascripts and fancy bits (and Flash...) around all over the site is the way to go

All, except Perl and "IP managing". I never seriously programmed in perl (can read and understand a basic program, but that is it) and am uncertain with what you mean with "Ip managing". Assuming you mean something like managing a DNS server - no real experience.

No managing server or IP(?), and not enough perl to make it worthwhile. But I do know PHP and how how to design and use databases (I've made a PHP based chat and forum/guestbook among other things).

HTML, CSS, PHP, SSI, etc. Programming seems fun, but I've never gotten too into it.

As for the more strictly web-related, I know (X)HTML, CSS, PHP and Java. I can understand Javascript, but have never written any of my own, never having had any need to as of yet - I prefer server-side when possible. (I've learned pretty much all I know about technical subjects in my freetime by self-study and working on my freetime projects. whenever I need to learn something to do what I want to, I do. with my current experience, I could easily pick up the remaining points - Javascript properly, and server and IP managing and Perl - well in a couple of days if I went for it)

I see C - my general-purpose language of choice - was included. So, going away from the immedietly web-related subjects, I know C, C++, have dabbled a bit in BASIC, VB and FORTRAN, and know x86 assembly (though I have yet to use it on a larger scale).
