Voluntary. John Howard made up a bunch of bullshit last time round that got the people who probably wouldn't have voted otherwise and didn't care to vote for him.

Also I believe that if you have a right you also have the right to wave that right. Is voting a right?

Needs a poll. And voluntary voting FTW!

Voluntary, like the NS issue says compulsory voting is undemocratic.

Poll please?

But if there were a poll, should voting in it be compulsory?

You might find that you're the only one who can create the poll, seeing as you've stolen the OP.

Well, many of us do have a compulsion to vote in polls.
He can't make a poll until he shows up as the thread starter on the main page

What is it with people making typos or something in their OP and then creating entire new threads, rather than just clicking 'edit'?

It'll happen in a while. I blame the slowness of Jolt.

The OP fails at NS.

Voluntary voting. If someone can't be bothered to vote how educated can he or she be on the candidates and the issues? I don't want idiots like that making uninformed choices for my nation.

I don't support elections. The people who get into government should do so because they are qualified and intelligent, not because they're more popular than the other guy. "Lesser of two evils" elections like Bush-Kerry '04 is a good example of what's wrong with democracy.
