After reading the martial arts thread an idea sprang up. There should be a TV series on the events between episode 3-4 and have all the jedis be super good martial artists with lightsabers. It would be sweet! The storm troopers would then be the mindless thugs who keep getting the crap kicked out of them. How cool would this be?

Jedi are over-rated, but the idea of a series to bridge the gap between episodes 3 and 4 sounds cool.

Uh...forgive a Trekkie for dashing your hopes but...I thought all of the Jedis except for Obi-Wan and Yoda were killed off in Episode III, leaving none to be around, since it balanced The Force by reducing Jedi and Sith to two each.

They warned survivors in ep III not to come enter Sidious's trap via that weird transmission place in the Jedi temple so I'm confident some survived other than Yoda and Obi Wan.

should i point out that before the lightsaber existed the jedi used a version of eastern martial arts.
this was in the books and therefor is not true cannon but then again, very little is.

Episodes I-III were nothing more than an extensive ad campaign for new Star Wars toys.

How said ad campaign continues to retain a following, I have no idea...true fans of the original trilogy left the franchise to it's fate right after Episode I came out.

Maybe you're missing the fact that between ep.3 and ep.4 there are only two Jedi left, namely Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda (Y.O.D.A.! you gotta train with Y.O.D.A!) and two Sith, namely the Emperor and Darth Vader.:rolleyes:

edit: unless you count Mara Jade and Joruus C'Baoth, the clone of Jorus C'Baoth. It has already been done in the Zahn trilogy (Heir to the Empire etc, supercool)

Nope. It just seemed that way because of the simplicity that movies demand. Plenty of Jedi survived the initial purge, Vader hunted down the rest over the coming years. Unless you want to ignore the books which I refuse to do but even then you only assume all the Jedi are dead at the end of Episode III there is nothing definitive.

You have to so that you can get some detail to the Star Wars universe. The movies just don't give enough information.

Yeah. It's mostly made in Japan. I know only one example of American-made anime, and it's nowhere as good as the Japanese ones.
