I find it interesting that the German constitution (basic law, I suppose) may be a barrier to de-germaning hitler.

In any event, It's also pretty meaningless, since they aren't going to de-german the people who voted for him.

Hitler was Austrian, IIRC. What's the point of stripping a dead man of his citizenship, he's dead, let him go man.

He didnt gain German citizenship until he was Chancellor.

EDIT: Stripping Hitler of his citizenship would be rather pointless, no?

Politicians have taken a good look at the world, they see nuclear proliferation in North Korea, they see famine and death in Africa, they note the spread of HIV and Aids and have decided to extradite a dead man.

It is as silly as global warming scares and anti-smoking campaigns, the politicians have to be pretty sad to think "before I die, I am going to make an Austrian dictator a 'none-German' for politically correct reasons".

Get a life.

Yes, because global warming isn't sending this world to hell in a handbasket, and smoking isn't one of the worst things you can do to yourself. [/sarcasm]

And you care because? Your going to die my friend.

Global Warming is not going to stop, even if everyone powered their light bulbs with hamster wheels and used bicycles and rowing boats instead of air transport.

Global warming is as much a naturally caused 'disaster' as it is a human one, why do you care about third world children burning under the heat in 3000 years time? It is not effecting you so why do you care?

Nooo! However shall I carry out my dream of seeing Europe overrun by a massive horde of undead headed by the Ghost of Hitler, Vampire Napoleon and Stalin's Mummy now? Without the assistance of the Second Third Reich, all is ruined!

Unless . . .
Does anyone here happen to know what they did with the bones of Alexander the Great?

He was probably turned into organic fertiliser to appease the environmentalists.

Trick question! Alexander the Great was buried in a glass casket full of honey, which hasn't been found yet.

While we're at it, why don't we bring back some people from the dead?

Wow, assuming the casket hasn't broken he could still be in decent shape. Honey doesn't decay, and should keep out most of the air.

I believe he was ethnically German, and obviously spoke German. Remember that over a million Germans lived outside Germany post-Versailles, so his nationality was Austrian, but I believe he changed that too, and eventually Austria voted to become part of the Third Reich.

Germany needs to stop trying to erase it's history.

To a degree, I can understand Germany's frustration of eternally being labelled as the ultimate bad guys of the 20th century. (Well, frankly, they were.) But eliminating Hitler's citizenship? Does eliminating his citizenship somehow absolve Germany of certain atrocities committed during that era? Of course not.

Let history be.

The worst part is, from what I've heard, is they refuse to do much about the rampant racism in some parts of the country, trying to ignore it or pretend it isn't happening. They've banned all forms of nazi symbology, except for educational uses, but it won't surprise me if they ban that too. Germany is frightfully obsessed with eradicating it's history.

It's worst in Russia, they just passed a law that all non-ethnic Russians (immigrants) are banned from working or owning public markets.

That's not trying to erase their history though. That's just being a bunch of racist pricks.

Might we make use of the now Daemon-lord Attila and his unstoppable swarms of skeleton horseman?

They should probably not even bother. I don't blame Germany now for what Hitler did, and I think that most people would agree with me on this. If they really do feel guilty about something that they personally had no control over, then there's a better way to handle this. Instead of trying to erase Hitler from history, they could instead focus all of this free time on improving the country.

Obviously it wasn't their fault. Even though they had jokes about killing jews at the time, they are still perfectly innocent. And in no way should they be associated with hitler.

LOL well I suppose even "wrist slaps" hold some weight somewhere even after the dude is dead?
