WASHINGTON - President Bush was killed earlier today in a gruesome car crash in the nation's capital. The crash appears to be an accident. At first, hesitating to admit it, White House press secretary Tony Snow soon announced that Bush had been killed "in a horrible and unfortunate accident". First Lady Laura Bush also gave a few teary words highlighting her husband's positive aspects. She urged the country to keep going and not let what happened cause an "overreaction".

British Prime Minister Tony Blair called the White House soon after the incident to offer his condolences. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also offered sympathy for President Bush's family and if you still believe this you are an idiot. Tony Snow went further to say that "nothing would really change" except the president, who will soon be Richard Cheney. The vice President was asleep at the time of the crash and was said to still be asleep and would not be alerted to the accident until he wakes up.

It was missing this.

"Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard was reported to be in total shock at the death of his friend George W Bush. He could not be contacted for comment but his office put out a press release saying the world had lost the best world leader in modern times, and the people of Australia shared the loss with the American people and as did the people of the world."

And the widespread impromptu celebrations in the provinces on both coasts of Canada. Because after all, when a leader who mistreats his people dies, it's appropriate for those who consider themselves morally superior to celebrate, right?

The Vice President of the United States is the first in the presidential line of succession, becoming the new President of the United States upon the death, resignation, or removal of the President.

The current Vice President of the United States is Dick Cheney.

Don't you mean Nancy Pelosi? Speaker of the House is second in line.

Yes, The vice president is second in line. Speaker 3rd.

You're both right and you're both wrong.

Speaker of the House is second in line, ans Progressia said. However this does not mean Pelosi becomes president if bush dies, Cheney does.

That's because the VP is not SECOND in line and Speaker THIRD in line. Pelosi is second in line, as Progressia said. Cheney is first.

Remember the "line" we are talking about is the "line of succession". When you said CHeney was second, Pelosi third, you were counting Bush as first. BUt you don't do that. Bush is not counted as he is not part of the line of sucession to the presidency because he is already president.

The line of succession is the order in which people will become president should the president become incapacitated or unable to serve. The line is those who would BECOME president. Bush is not part of that order, he wouldn't become president, he IS the president. As such he's not part of the line of succession. Cheney is the first one to BECOME president and as such he's first in the line of succession. Pelosi, after him, is second.

So Progressia was right, sorta. Pelosi IS second in line. Cheney is first.
