Question for the women of NSG

It seems like whenever someone is interested in me and I show any interest back, they become disinterested, but if I pretend like I am not interested/they don't mean anything to me, they act more interested in me.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

EDIT: I'm not entirely ruling out that I have terrible luck/draw strange people.

They want to be your friend, nothing more. If you act like you're interested in them, they'll back away. If you don't, then they'll be more friendly, which will seem to you like they're interested.

Thats what I originally thought, but there was someone who I could tell wanted to be more than friends so I decided to test my hypothesis and I acted like she was no one for about a month.

I let her talk me into studying for an exam in her dorm and once I revealed that I did like her, things got interesting in a hurry.

On the other hand, there have been many others whose friends tell me that they like me, but when I start giving them extra attention/trying to spend time with them, it seems like they suddenly become disinterested.

I feel that my recently finished time as a sp@mqueen advisor, or whatever it is, gives me a unique insight into the world of the woman.

Perhaps you just tend to show interest far too fast and appear to be gagging for it, and that's all you're thinking of. I dunno.

depends..

either
a) she's shy of commitment (or whatever) because of past relationships
b) she loves a challenge and making it too easy turns her off
c) she's on a power trip..just wants to see if she can get you interested to boost her ego.

The Sp@mQueen is real, she's one of the game programmers. When you get between 4,500 and 5,000 posts you're asked to help her out with ideas and the like. They feel that people of that experience are best because they're old enough to have settled down into the game, but not so old as to be set in their ways.

Anyone still here that believes that they know a woman's brain through and through is either full of shit or a woman themselves.

While I'm not a chick, I put forward this theory for thought-

Ever go to pet a dog? You just saw the dog and you're all, "Hey, that's a nice lookin' dog, maybe if I pet the dog I'll get to know it better." Perhaps, over time, you and that dog might bond. But then the dog just starts licking you all over the face as soon as you touch it and you're suddenly like, "Eh, meh. Forget it you sloppy bitch...damn..."

Something like that. Maybe.

LOL - whereas maybe if the dog had looked you in the eye, said you were the most beautiful thing in the world and how he'd like to get down and dirty with you right there and then, that dog would be smoking a cigarette right now

I think that's outrageous. In fact, I think I might file a complaint. The rest of us have to work hard for a long time before we get that title! Why should you be anything special?

Most likely you're horribly inapt at expressing interest.....

either you have met some awful women who dont know their own minds or you are misinterpreting their interest in you.

ask them out earlier before you are hooked on them. that way if you have misunderstood its not such a tragedy.
