Yesterday I saw the movie Monster House for the first time, and I saw so many allusions to other movies/shows that I wasn't expecting.
First Allusion: The very beginning with the little girl riding her trike down the sidewalk and getting stuck in the grass of That House. I was like "OMFG BOO RADLEY!!11!!"
Second Allusion: Everyone fears That House and the guy who lives inside-- another Boo Radley/To Kill A Mockingbird allusion.
Third: The kid across the street from That House, TJ, looks like an animated version of JT Yorke from Degrassi (in the first few seasons).
Fourth: Chowder, who is TJ/JT's best friend, loses his ball and it bounces over to That House, and Chowder dares TJ to get it since "he's so grown up". Another To Kill A Mockingbird reference- Jem and Dill, anyone?
Fifth: "Bones" looks liek the biker ghost (whose name escapes me :() from Danny Phantom. Zee looks the said ghost's girlfriend, though only vaguely.
Sixth: Jenny. She has red hair and is a know-it-all, so she strikes me as a mix between Hermione and Ginny from Harry Potter. (Also, TJ and Chowder also vaguely act like Harry and Ron).
Seventh: That House, when you think about it, is also kind of like the Shrieking Shack in Harry Potter.
Eighth: The tree. Funny how it's almost exactly like hte Whomping Willow...
Ninth: The black cop hangs onto the tree, and if you look closely he's kind of like Hermione and the Whomping Willow in Prisoner of Azkaban.
Tenth: The cop car is thrown into the tree. Flying car into the Whomping Willow in Chamber of secrets?
That's all the ones I could remember.
