Controversial amendments to Egypt's constitution have been approved by 75.9% of those who voted in Monday's referendum, government officials say.
Turnout for the vote was 27%, the justice ministry said, although some independent groups put it at 5%.
The country's main opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, boycotted the vote and criticised the amendments as paving the way for a police state.

I don't really mind the ban on parties based on religion, but article 88 really bothers me. Article 88 removes all judicial review from elections, which does pave the way for the destruction of democracy and a police state. I hope Mubarak loses power, but I don't think military action would be wise. How do you think the Egyptians(or anyone else) could go about throwing Mubarak out, and should they?
