If you're not like me and you listen to a lot of music (or if you are like me and don't listen to a lot of music), what's the most uplifting song you've ever heard?

Mine is This Hyper World - Lemon Demon.

Right now, I'm really, really liking "Here I Am" by The Explosion. "Divide and Conquer" by Husker Du also qualifies.

Hmm. I can't really say I've ever found a song uplifting. Moving, but never uplifting.

What genres do you listen to?

To me, uplifting is the same as exploding, and no piece of music has ever so crassly and gloriously captured that as the 1812 Overture.

Mostly what's on the radio and what people I know are listening to. I guess I'm just unclear on what you mean by uplifting.

First thing that comes into my head is Running Up That Hill by the delightful Kate Bush.

But a huge amount of post-rock (Sigur Rós, GYBE, Mogwai, etc.) is fantastically uplifting. Sæglópur by Sigur Rós comes to mind.

Mika's "Grace Kelly". (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzA0nG_PurQ)The rest of the world is probably sick of it, but I just discovered it.

The kind of songs that motivates/inspires you, that kind of uplifting. So my question, which song do you think is the most uplifting - does it make you feel good?

ZOMG! Some else on NSG has heard "Blows Against the Empire"???

I don't think I could pick a "most uplifting." It depends on my mood. Sometimes it can be Bowie's "Rock and Roll Suicide"
Sometimes it's Donna Lewis "I Love You Always Forever"

There is no song more uplifting in this world than "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard. None. I win the thread. :D

"Pour Some Sugar On Me" That song is uplifting. Expecially when your girlfriend plays it while your hom alone with her... ;)

Strangly enough I find music like,

"Can I Play With Madness?"-Iron Maiden
"Links 234"-Rammstein
"Rock and Roll High School"-Ramones
"I Want You To Want Me"-Cheap Trick
"A Passage To Bangkok"-Rush

Uplifting. Those five are my top five (No special order). Dont ask about the Iron Maiden or Rammstein, I cant explain why either...

Funny, I was sitting in my car, blasting Anti-Flag on the way back from a particularly frustrating rehearsal today thinking the same thing. You aren't reading my mind, are you?
