Anyone know of a good, (relatively) free place that I can get a topographical map of Long Island? I've got a project for the summer, and I really need a topographical map of Suffolk County.

The United States Geological Survey (http://www.usgs.gov/). I don't know what the USGS is charging for maps these days but I think they probably qualify as (relatively) free.

What kind of (ahem) 'project'?
Somewhere deep in the dark labyrinthine caverns of NSA headquarters Novus-America's name has just been added to a list.

Tried there; they don't have them anymore. At least, not that I was able to find.
Project? Well, I'm making an HL2 mod set in Suffolk County. I'll make a topic about it for feedback and and such once I have the exact direction that the plot will go laid out.

Yeah, they still do. Go here (http://erg.usgs.gov/isb/pubs/booklets/usgsmaps/usgsmaps.html#Topographic%20Maps). It was a pain in the fundament to find this page, though.

If you cannot find one thru the USGS, go to the Planning Office of your county, more specifically their GIS (Geographical Information System) Office. They will have all the land records of all properties in the county/city as well as aerial photos and survey/contour maps. Those are public records, so they will provide them. Cannot tell you if they will charge or not, as that is up to the individual agency.
