An Arizona governor that was in office during the 1997 "Phoenix Lights" episode changes his tune on what it was. He is now saying that they were most likely UFO's. I thought it was interesting after 10 years he has come out and said this. I don't know what it was but it is amazing either way you look at it. I do know there was a military response with interceptors. Some of you maybe to young to remember watching it while it was happening on the news. However here is the back story and a news video from CNN. So does this change your opinion on what it was?

Fife Symington is a colorful crook.

He was one of our "bad governors," a problem we've only recently remedied.

After becoming a felon and therefore expelled from office, he became a pastry chef at an italian resturant and now has his own cooking school.

Clinton pardoned him. Symington had pulled Clinton from the water years and years ago when he got caught by a rip-tide. Can't make this stuff up.

Some other notable AZ Bad Governors are: Evan Mecham,

"As governor, Mecham was plagued by controversy and became the first U.S. governor to simultaneously face removal from office through impeachment, a scheduled recall election, and a felony indictment."

and Jane Hull, who decided to try her hardest to bankrupt the state, not the least be putting into place an insane law called the "Alt Fuels Fiasco," whereby the state would pay most of the cost of a gas-guzzler SUV if you consented to have an alternative fuel system installed, without any requirement to use it.

Now, by the grace of god and our lengthy suffering, we have Janet Napolitano, an excellent governor.

Damn, I thought Washington State had some bad governers. I guess my state has been run by angels. So basically the guy has no credibility what so ever? He maybe trying to profit on this then....

He may just want attention, may just be saying it for fun.

He doesn't need money, he's wealthy and comes frm a wealthy family, and married into another very wealthy family.

Not particularly. A UFO is an object that flies that has not yet been identified. That and nothing more. I see lots of unidentified flying objects, eventually they turn out to be airplanes, helicopters, frisbies, birds etc. They were UFOs until they were identified.

According to what I've read, the lights were actually found to be illumination flares for a National Guard exercise that was being held that night.

Wow, ten years later and people are still talking about it. I've actually heard that it was flares that the National Guard was using for practice of something.

I vaguely remember the story. I was living in Pheonix at the time but I never saw any lights.

Of course the lights were UFOs. They were Unidentified Flying Objects. Now, they most certainly were not alien spaceships, as has become the common definition for the term, but that's not the point.

I will never understand why we use the term UFO to refer to an alien spacecraft of some sort. It means Unidentified Flying Object, an object flying through the air that is unidenitified. It could easily be a plane, a balloon, a type of bird, or anything; you just simply haven't identified it yet so it is a UFO.

I'm sorry if I am repeating anyone but...

You thought someone saying the "phoenix lights" were probably UFO's had any credibility at all?

Just as a general pointer
If someone says it was ghosts, ghoulies, things that go bump in the night, angels, god or aliens
Then you automatically disbelieve and assign zero credibility to them unless and until there is compelling evidence to back up their claims.

Anything else will find you out of pocket for the purchase of a bridge in or around brooklyn.
