I'm not so certain it is in the best interest of society to hook up computers to my brain. :)

I wouldn't even hook up a light bulb to your brain, LG. :p

Q: 'How many Goofballs does it take to change a lightbulb?'
A: 'One. And twenty years of therapy to change it back again.' :)
They're also creating a .hack mmorpg - coincidence? I think not.

Whats wrong with the old throw the ball in the cup game aye!? hours of fun with that! :p
This will be terrible, imagine teenage guys using it on the interwebz. Their brains would overload google with searches for "naked ladies" and the like.

But holy shit, think of the possibilities artists could have. Using photoshop WITH YOUR MIND. I wonder if the computer would be able to keep up...

I suppose that depends on the mind. :p

Well, porn has always been a technological leader on the internet...
Hook me up, btw. This will be the first in the long series of steps I'll take towards a fully artificial brain, with the obvious long-term goal of either uploading or just full mechanization of my physical body. Definitely a step in the right direction for all us techno-geeks out there.

That would be the most amazing and most heinous thing in the history of mankind. Not even the Romans could develop something like that.

Actually, imagine using the internet with this.
I've just started reading Neuromancer, so I'm a little hyped or something, but moving through cyberspace with your mind. Sign me up.
You'd need to redesign the UI for a browser though, into a world in some way. I've got a few ideas in this direction actually, for spaces which you can flow and move through, plain space containing sheets or walls of data, with hyperlinks implemented as bringing up more of these. Actually, who says it would have to be Euclidean space? Think of the possibilities. Web pages floating as text and images embedded in an infinite space, which you move through with your mind. "That one", "Back to where I was", "Up a few". Lifting and moving pages with your mind. "Over there", "What's behind that?", "Get that". It'd have to be implemented with a combination of your eye motions and simple thought commands, which this thing can get. You'd still need keyboards and such to type in though.

Nah, virtual keyboard built into the UI. Easily enough done.

No, because the amount of work required to make things like effectively erasing text and picking up my typing and my navigation at once and such would be near impossible.
I reckon the way to go is a single plain keyboard, without number pad, scroll options, numeric keys, or F keys, and one of these things. That's why we aren't all dictating our posts to our computer, the issues with distinguishing between `cut that word' as a piece of text, and `cut that word' as an order. I'd fully expect you to be able to place the cursor and select text with your eyes though.

I imagine if you couldn't do a direct neural interface for language processing right away, something like this might help. The brain could manipulate an extremely small keyboard (maybe even an implant on the brain itself), greatly reducing the size of the physical components needed to interact online.
I think i'd rather use a mouse and keyboard then wear that gay helmet....
You say that now, but wait till all the cool kids are wearing gay helmets.
