I realize that I am a nerd, but I do play both World Of Warcraft, and D&D. I enjoy D&D much better though, so I think D&D takes it.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for all the time and effort you've put into this thread. After rereading the original post several times over and regressing into a bout of deep thinking (brought on by your words, no doubt), I've come to the conclusion that both of them suck.

Not even the theme is clear, you are opposing a pen and paper game against a computer MMORPG.

And your OP is an insult to my eyes, really.

Rolemaster.
Adnd with the Player's Options.
Dnd3 is somewhat backwards (no mana points, fixed spell slots).
WoW is poo.

Oh, and btw, did I mention that the OP sucked?

Unearthed Arcana, a DnD3 book of variants, was published in (I think) 2k4 that addressed those issues. It allowed for a seamless replacement of spell slots with mana points if the players and DM wished.

Also, having played WoW and D&D. D&D is teh pwnzor. Or however you leet freaks spell it.

Well.... WoW sucks, and D&D is one of the best games ever. I think the answer is obvious.

I'm old school. I like my Role-Playing with my real friends, as opposed to an internet hack'n'slash casino-like addiction with strangers.

Unearthed had mana points variants? Which book, I'd like to check that out. I have the set, but there is a lot to read in all of Monte's ideas. However, I always find I like the premise upon which he creates his variants, but often not his method of manifesting them as rules (example: Mindscapes as a psionic variant).

I play WoW, but I am rather new, I am only a lvl 33 Human Warrior, but I haven't played in a while as I have been busy and my time ran out. I do not play D&D, but I have an equally nerdy collection of WH40K models.

The book is called Unearthed Arcana, it's a D&D 3rd edition book. One sec.

Dungeons and Dragons is infinitely better than any massive multiplayer online roleplaying game.

Completely unrelated note, that font is pretty amusing at the largest size. But maybe you should work on your PSP to make it more tolerable to the rest of us.

I remember that. When it comes to rules, I prefer Monte Cook's Iron Heroes plus True Sorcery. It makes for a wonderfully robust system. Arcana Evolved is lovely too. Much more intricate than standard D&D.

He might mean Stormreach, the D&D MMORPG, which to be honest, is mediocre. If the choice is between D&D in general though, it gets my vote. :)

I was always thankful for Monte Cook's revision of the 3.0 Ranger. They've improved on it immensely in 3.5, but the Ranger used to be the most idiotic class in the game in regular 3.0

I thought that too, but I'm not trusting the intelligence of someone who makes such an abysmal OP.

Ah, I wasn't aware. We tend not to use variants much, and when we do we just use a hybrid 3.0/3.5 to avoid having to buy 50 books.

That's what torrents are for - avoiding paying WotC absurd amounts of money for silly books. That and www.dandwiki.com

I think you have Arcana Unearthed in mind. Monte's only work with mana is Iron Heroes (which is in fact Mike Mearl's baby). When it comes to magic though it's non-functional without True Sorcery.
