Rest in Peace, my graphics card.

'Tis a very sad day.
My Radeon 9800 pro, vetran of some two years of gaming, has passed away in a tragic accident apparently involving the local power company.
It was a damn good graphics card, quite capable of running high end games despite the so-called 'suggested specs' on the box. It could run Oblivion on best settings with hardly any slowdown in most places. It took me through CoD2. It even ran System Shock 2, something most modern systems have trouble with.
And now, thanks to a power surge (which my surge protector failed to catch, apparently) its gone.
*sniffle*
I guess Im going to buy an Nvidia card this time around, since AMD bought up ATI...the bastards.

Wow, I didn't know the 9800 was that powerful.
I had a 9700 pro, but it started getting some errors though, but all and all I'd say it was a fine graphics card. I guess mine lasted about two years as well.

In my books, AMD buying ATi is a plus for buying an ATi card. Though, that does not get ATi get ATi close to being considered, as their drivers are terrible. But I am a Linux user, so I am crazy.

I have a Radeon 9700 pro, has lasted me for 2+ years without any problems, running several high-end games well (infact the only problems I have are from my cpu having heat issues). However, it is my second one, I bought the first on Ebay, which died after 2 weeks of use, so got the 2nd from OcUK (a much more reputable seller).
