Sorry the transcript is not up, but you can still stream and watch it. I was just shocked that these kind of practises still existed, I never realised.

Meh, it's just some very few fundamentalist Mormon fringe groups that still practice it.

It's not legal in the US and the Mormon church punishes it with excommunication.

How can you not know that this sort things still occurs. It seems that about every 6 months on Discovery on BBC or some other channel they have a big expose on it. Also there was the series Big Love just recently.

From a purely philosophical view point, lets leave the moral side out, what are people considerations about polygamy. Remember that this is not something which is universally condemned so please dont just say it is bad.

Yes Pologamy is a rather sad on both Utah and LDS (I my self being both a Utahn and a Mormon) of course mind you like the above stated the mainstream church forbids the practice, and it can get you excomunicated. it has been banned since the late 1800's. But hey it's just as bad as thoes extreme pseudo-Christian Boot Camp. I saw a news special on one but I can't rember the name of the camp or it's insane leader

Not may get you excommunicated, but will get you excommunicated. This is not something which is open for debate within the church

The only thing bad about it in this case is the fundy nutbars practice of marrying underage girls who don't want to marry old men with 30 other wives. As long as everyone is of legal age and consents to the multiple marriage I don't care if you marry 3 women, 6 men, 2 transsexuals, and an artificially intelligent toaster.

I would agree that this would be fine aongst consenting adults, how consenting is it though when you are brought up in a society where you are taught that this is the way it HAS to be and you are not exposed to alternatives?

I have yet to find a rational argument against polygamy and to be honest I don’t care who you marry, marry your cat for all I care as long as you don’t hump it which is the definition of marriage :p (though it can hump you *shrug*)

I have been drinking so that might not be coherent...

Exactly like that.

People must know the options and must be able to choose for themself. The difficulty is though with that freedom comes the responsibility to accept any and all consequences associated with your choice.
