What's your favorite area of your country?

For me, it's the Pacific Northwest. It's where I come home, has beautiful beaches and hiking trails, and there's absolutely no place like Seattle in August. Portland is a fun city with funky art shops and fantastic food.
Where do you like to go, visit, vacation, chill, etc?

For me, it's the south west of England. Exmoor is a beautiful place.

I totally agree with you - the Pacific Northwest is my favourite part of the US, too.
My favourite part of Canada is Saskatchewan. 42 million acres of basically nothing.
These threads are all so boring because most of the posters say either:
1) the location they currently live at
or,
2) the location they were raised.
I only want to hear from people who've travelled extensively and whose answer isn't 1) or 2). THAT would be interesting.

The area I said was neither of those two options.

*shrug* It's true, though. I'm in the southwest, been to New England, Hawaii, California, a bit of time in Texas and Florida, and still the PNW is my favorite, and not just because I was raised there.
Edit: Although Hawaii is a close second :D

The woods around where I was brought up, partially because of the memories I have associated with them, and partially because it's just lovely countryside.
Also, the Peak District and the Brecon Beacons. Easily two of the best places in the country to go walking.

Most of the West Coast is pretty nice, I don't mind the Northeast much either.

I'd like the Pacific Northwest because it has everything I like...except for the humidity. It's too damned humid there.
So, I turn to the mountain rivers, lakes, and forests of the Colorado Rockies. Luckily I live here, too.
Even though I have two countries, it's the same place: Home :)

Has anyone been to a service station in the lake district with thousands and thousands of ducks? Thats a brilliant place, its got a big pond and ducks and a farm shop that does the most delicious cherry pies. And when i got up to uni i mentioned it and it turned out that one of my bestest friends in the world comes from just downt he road from there!
So yes. I like a duck pond in cumbria.

Ok, my favorite is not where I was raised nor where I live. Its a place called Chapada Diamantina, here in Brazil, a natural reserve park with a lot of amazing landscapes, animals and caves.
I only spent like 4 days there, but it was enough to make me love the place. THere are some stuff that look alien, so much that its diferent from my own region. You can spend 1 month trekking around, if you have the time.

warsaw's are more then just confusing. They are also filled with pick-pockets and zombie-looking drug addicts, and the central one is hideous from both insode and out.

The Lake District - most of the people are cunts (they call tourists foreigners - and yet have the audacitiy to employ only minimum wage europeans or australians in the bars). Beautiful scenery and mountain walks.

Sure it's got humidity, but not when it's hot. The southern east coast is absolutely dreadful in the summer because it combines what any sane person would make illegal temperatures with god-forsaken humidity. Gimme Cascadia for the US & Canada. Sure it's got rain, but that's why there's all the trees and glaciers and lakes.
I'm also quite fond of the area around Delphi in Greece, but the Cyclades are pretty nice as well, as long as you steer clear of the tourist towns.

In the US, the Pacific Northwest is great and all (beautiful places to go hiking if you have enough gas to drive out), but frankly as far as living somewhere I like Texas, except for the political stereotype. The ecology's great, and there's room to breathe. I wouldn't mind raising my kids there.

I judge by the attack on conservative hicks that you are a liberal. While I consider myself a raging moderate, I would like to point out that you certainly go a great deal to making me believe that liberals are tolerant.
;)
*edit* not that I think of conservatives any differently. All extremism is dangerous.

Ohio River Valley. Honestly, I love my area of my state more than any other place in the country. Its just so...nice goes from flat plains, to a few hills and lakes, to rivers and cliffs. :)
The west coast is the best coast.
Tupac got shot for saying that, you know.
Besides everyone knows that the east coast has it going on, while the west coast is a bunch of punk azz tricks.
California coastline... an example is Oceanside. Slightly out of frame from the right is the Coast Highway, and roughly 3 miles north (towards the top of the frame) is where I used to live.

I've loved most places I've travelled here-it would be hard to name one favorite-maybe a "top ten".
I might tend to like the areas near the ocean most, but loved all over Arizona and Utah too.
I cant give one favorite. Right now, I'm loving the mountains of PA.
