Since NSG tends to attract many 'oh my life is teh sux gimme advice' type threads, I like to balance it out every once and a while with a feel good thread.

So what's going right for you lately? Not even overall, maybe overall things kind of suck right now, but what DOESN'T suck?

For me, things going right:
- Avoided an accident this morning with my fantastic driving skills and a little bit of presentiment
- I'm having a great hair day :D
- I got a late scholarship for $1500, which although will disappear into the black hole of my debt is nonetheless rather thrilling.
- I'm crazy about a very wonderful man.
- I'm taking a four month vacation from school and work this summer to go on the powwow trail.

I got my new membership card to the local science museum in the mail today, also got a card that says there is something at the post office for me and it's not a certified letter :D it's a package!!!!!

I picked up a ton of movies last night that I needed in my collection (okay about 8, but they were all on sale!)

Tonight I get to go hang out with my Mensa group and eat food that's probably not good for me.

I picked up a modest yet classy dress for my kid and I am pretty sure it will fit her and her personality, and it was on sale.

I found a groovy new shirt and I am wearing it and it's 100% cotton, so it's soooooo comfortable.

and my dog got a good report from the vet!

Going right?

Actually life has been treating me good lately (long time for a change).
-I have a flat of my own. (I have a flat period.)
-I'm pretty much recovered from my ACL
- (I hope I don't jinx myself mentioning this) Everyone's allergies hit last Tuesday, mine haven't. I have horrible allergies.
-I got to listen to Dan Savage speak and I met him after.
-Last month I had money for everything I needed (this month is sa bit slim).
-My responsibilities at my job are increasing.
-The business where I work/play on the weekends is open again.

Well, two weeks of primary care with a 45 minute train and tram commute away doesn't exactly blow my socks off. Luckily, I know tonnes of people over there and have already made plans for tonnes of fun stuff almost every day after work, so consider me consoled.

For me, things going right:

-Gave my bi-yearly presentation to my graduate program and did not completely humiliate myself

-Can do twice as many push-ups this month as last month

-Himself won a $5000 bonus at work for doing a fantastic job on his most recent campaign, which means Himself pays off much credit card debt, which means Himself is muchly joyful and strongly inclined to play naughty games with me

-Mom came through her recent surgery with flying colors and no ill aftereffects (hooray!)

He is truly wonderful. And yes, very cute. (If he breaks up with his boyfriend, I'm getting a sex change.)

You got to talk to him for an hour? Luckey!

I figured I could either ask him for an autograph or I could thank him for writing his column. It really helped me during my teen and young adult years. Unlike most people I wasn't born with a sexual road map, his column made me realise that I wasn't a freak because of it (or at least no more a freak than the furries). So I said my thing, and we danced around, then I turned to leave so I didn't make an ass out of myself.

Let's see, things that don't suck right now.
- I almost got run over by a car today, but I was lucky and took the opportunity to cuss like a sailor.
- I found a lady's handbag in the bank and handed it to the teller.
- I'm broke but I'm still within the overdraft limit.
- I just ate a pizza.
- This afternoon I had a nice meeting with a lady friend of mine over a cup of coffee/tea.

Now, had you asked about the bad things that happened today, the list would be thrice as long and would include very unpleasant things, none of which could really be countered by the good things that occurred. Meh. Sucks!

Well, I got my new cell phone in the mail today, and unlike its predecessor, it actually gets reception at my house, which is definitely nice. (It's also a ridiculously pretty little gadget, which is pleasing to my inner technophile. I doubt I'll actually use it for anything other than making and receiving phone calls, but the fact that I could download music and take photos and watch TV shows and so on and so forth is sort of exciting nonetheless.)

Also, the weather has been more pleasant lately than it has been in some time, which means I can spend more time outside with my dog. That's always good. :)

Lets see,

My freelancing hasn't quite sucked as much as it has in the past, especially around this time. I worked through December and January and Febuary with a tad bit of just spendin' cash on me. They've been paying good for me, which albiet isn't that much but that just means when it's enough you feel that extra bit happier. Though I did go into feast and famine mode and blew a stack a little early, so I'm dead broke waiting for Thursday at the latest, but I have some of my earlier extravences to hold me over.

I got to use my beloved Veronica ('67 VW Bus) in regular service when The Lego ('85 VW Vanagon) crapped out on me, and man did I miss driving that little thing, troubles and all. AND I found maybe the bestest VW mechanic to date. Seriously love this guy, I might get his shop name tatooed on my forehead.

The new digs so far have been more or less trouble free and has allowed me to forego the usuall long drive commute and instead take public transportation saving me over $160 this month. Taking public transportation willingly instead of because your van crapped out is a whole new animal.

Found a cool shirt I'm totally going to buy.

On the personal front went through some minor rough spots and still happy as ever, so that's cool.

Usually I would say I wish I was making more money, but I am. Still could make a little more to not be so close to the wire, but if things continue on thier trend (and they never do) I might have...what do you guys call that? When you have money that you don't have to use right away so you put it somewhere for when you might need it or to make big purchases...oh, yeah, savings. I might have some of that. Then I can buy a top hat and monocle that I drop in suprise when someone mentions something shocking.

1) I've never seen this type of printer before, much less worked on one.
2) the damage is such that the static film was torn, a spring was busted, a gear holder was loose (and sitting next to the printer) and several rollers were drastically misaligned (as in one side was off.)
3) I was armed with only one screwdriver. (too lazy to walk back to my office for my toolkit.)
4) the damage was such that the printer was inoperative

and I fixed it to operational status using one screwdriver, a couple of Jumbo Paper Clips and two pieces of scotch tape.

I wrote this totally awesome poem in Creative Writing:
"I Hate Rhyme"
I'm really out of luck
Becasue you want me to rhyme
I can't do a decent rhyme
I don't even like to rhyme
Why do you like to rhyme?
I don't want to rhyme
I hate my rhyme
More than I hate your rhyme
I don't want to rhyme
I really hate to rhyme
I can't do a decent rhyme
And I don't even like to rhyme.
Can't I write without a rhyme?
Why do I really need to rhyme?
Would it be better with a rhyme?
Would it be worse without a rhyme?
You know that I ca't rhyme.
You just like to make me rhyme
Just to watch me fail at rhyme.
Because you really love to rhyme
You like to torture me with rhyme
When you know that I don't like to rhyme
I don't want to rhyme
Why don't you just go and rhyme
All by yourself so you can rhyme
And stop forcing me to rhyme
Go away and write your rhyme
Go away becasue you suck.

Muah ha ha.

I had a good weekend.
Next week, the teachers will lift assigned seating in the cafeteria.
There was good weather today.

Oooh, this thread really cheered me up, cause i thought my life was rather shitty atm (due to a certain guy) till i thought about all the good things.

So good things are:

Got my highest score ever in a trampolining competition (5.8) and edinburgh won the scottish lueage!!! WOOOO!!!!! We have big trophy :D

I DIDNT win the turner prize at the annual general meeting for trampolining

I have pretty much bugger all to do this week except pack to go home

I think i may have found a flat for next year in a really nice area

I didnt have a hangover this morning despite really really deserving one (i drowned my sorrows of last night in two bottles of wine, then it all came back up again cause i puke when i cry and drink)

Im going to a celidh with my sister tomorow night, and they are always fun

I have discovered that i am actually rather good at the trapeze (i do a good mermaid and gazelle supposedly)

Wow, thats lots of good things. That so totally makes up for the being rejected by the guy i have fancied all term.

When I headed back from the US, I missed my flight by a few minutes. It resulted in me heading to Cincinatti from Charlottesville and from there to Atlanta to catch my flight to Paris and then Berlin. Apparently Delta garbled things up so badly, that I was scheduled to arrive a few hours after I actually did.

And so as I said to my mom when she berated me saying I could have had to pay a thousand dollars to get home: "But I didn't and I got here early."

1. I realized the lord still loves me even though I am transgendered.
2. I went to the heart doctor for a check up and got a good report.
3. Even though I have lost most of my blood kin because of my transition, I now have people who love me as if I have always been a member of their family.
4. I have a home and food to eat every day.
5. Finally I have all of you folks from differant places that I can interact with and learn new things from, that I may have never known otherwise.

i have had the pleasure of reconnecting with 2 women that i have not seen or spoke to in 15 years and 2 years respectively.
the girl i have not seen in 15 years,i adored..she was married, and i eventually did.we were great friends.she moved away because of her husband(who had real bad blood with my brother)
i moved to the area she moved to 15 years ago about 6 years ago.
i was at lunch at a local restaurant/bar and lo and behold...she is the waitress.
she is divorced, and we are going out to dinner next week.i will never say never again!
she is the nicest person i have ever met.

how's that for something positive?

i was so busy raising my kids i have not had time for myself(relationships)(for the last 6 years or so..no time for bars and whatnot)all of the sudden,my daughter is off to school,my boy is off to the army...and bam,i run into her.
after my divorce..i swore i would never get seriously involved in a relationship...now i am day dreaming.
just got the email from her...signed..missed you and still love you...i am gonna be a very pleasant person soon methinks...since i have been a schoolgirl lately..i have realised how grouchy and mean i have been.

nice thread....i could write all day.

I wrote this totally awesome poem in Creative Writing:
"I Hate Rhyme"
I'm really out of luck
Becasue you want me to rhyme
I can't do a decent rhyme
I don't even like to rhyme
Why do you like to rhyme?
I don't want to rhyme
I hate my rhyme
More than I hate your rhyme
I don't want to rhyme
I really hate to rhyme
I can't do a decent rhyme
And I don't even like to rhyme.
Can't I write without a rhyme?
Why do I really need to rhyme?
Would it be better with a rhyme?
Would it be worse without a rhyme?
You know that I ca't rhyme.
You just like to make me rhyme
Just to watch me fail at rhyme.
Because you really love to rhyme
You like to torture me with rhyme
When you know that I don't like to rhyme
I don't want to rhyme
Why don't you just go and rhyme
All by yourself so you can rhyme
And stop forcing me to rhyme
Go away and write your rhyme
Go away becasue you suck.

Muah ha ha.

My last chemistry lab of the semester (and depending on whether I am able to transfer to SFU as a second year or first year, of my life).
Only two weeks until the exam period.
Only two more weeks of chemistry classes (again depending on SFU).
Got 100% on my last Physics and Linear Algebra assignments.
I haven't borked anything serious on my computer recently, so I have had time to get some pointless eye-candy working.
Setup dual monitors on my computer.
One of my teachers moved the due date for the weekly homework, so my workload of the week is more balanced.
Last chem lab was today.

It's spring break! That's something! And, things are better with the acting, but they still suck, and they probably always will suck, because that's what happens when you pick a really idiotic career path. But Into the Woods is an amazing musical, and I now officially watch a snippet of it every five minutes. And my friends are amazing, and my dad's taking me to see "Cats", and I finally went for a run, and last week I was having trouble forcing myself to eat, but this week I like food again, and I know my butt is ridiculously hot, and I got these great shoes to go with my prom dress, and I get to watch the Colbert Report and South Park tonight, and I'm learning to speak sign language, and I'm getting like 98% in Compartive Civilisations, and we're about to do Hamlet in Lit, and...

...and five minutes ago I was crying, but I'm starting to feel better.

Nice thread, Sin. Let's see..

Schedule for next uni semester is as good as fixed, and it looks like I'll be terribly busy, but I seem to be able to do every class I wanted / needed, which is a first.

At the moment, it looks like I'll be having enough money for a while now to start buying groceries the way I want to, instead of having to go for the grown-and-processed-under-terrible-conditions-but-cheap ones.

I live with five people, one of whom I adore, one of whom I'm very close friends with, one of whom I can spend hours and hours talking with, one of whom I'm just starting to get to know, but who promises to be very interesting, and one of whom.. well, does me a favor by being absent most of the time.

We finally have a microwave again.

I've been blessed with a friend who's giving me quite a lot more than I thought a friendship could/would give me these days - and he gives me the feeling that I can give him the same back.

I've found a nicer, less exhausting way I can use to bike to uni than the one I used before.

Knut (http://pix.sueddeutsche.de/panorama/artikel/386/106280/image_fmabspic_0_0-1174323560.jpg) shall (http://pix.sueddeutsche.de/panorama/artikel/207/106101/image_fmabspic_0_0-1174294864.jpg) live (http://www.mittelbayerische.de/newsbilder/afpbilder/2007/03/19/CPS.CDH88.190307162012.photo00.photo.default-512x328.jpg)! .. that, and I've been given some pictures of him I shall now proceed to pin on my wall.

I've finally bought a motif puncher. Yes, I'm pathetic that way, but it made me happy for days now. Love those things, just love 'em.

After six weeks of being tormented every day, I am now officially considered to be able to read Latin. Never has a bigger mistake been made, but all I need is that paper that says I can, and I'll fetch just that tomorrow.

I'm officially an adult in every way, all my previous convictions are null and void, and.. wait, what did I just say? ;P

I've finally found a brand represented in the stores around me that makes raspberry yoghurt that comes in those 500g jars (and that is yummy). They also make milk chocolate yoghurt. Oh yes.

Generally, life is very busy, very exhausting, and very demanding, but also terribly exciting and rather great. Any other questions you'd like to ask the witness, Your Honour?

Reviews so far are favourable, mostly about the mid-80s. The PC Gamer UK review was very good and gave 87%, quelled quite a few fears I had about it.

I haven't tried the multiplayer on that yet. The singleplayer is ok...the campaigns are poor but skirmish is fun.

It's good. Similar to TA, as you'd expect, but I tend to play this on smaller maps so it's much faster and more vicious. Scouting and intel are key, with lots of tanks and planes being second :)
I don't know if the time difference and distance between Oz and Blighty would leave the game playable, but if you want to try ever...

Lots of things have gone right today:

I went down to the doctors for just a random checkup and they found the cause of a problem that had been bugging me for a while and i had had tests for before. Its just low blood pressure!!!!! All i need to do to become perminantly concious is to eat more salt, wear tighter socks and have lots of pillows!

I got the results back for my maths tests today aswell, in one i got 90% and in the other i discovered that you didnt actually have to pass the coursework to pass the course, you just need a 40% average.

I discovered that i can infact cycle while holding a textbook.

I have stopped feeling as miserable about a certain guy, and realised that life does infact go on, and he was probably too old for me anyway.

Im going to see my mummy back home in 3 days :D (or more importantly my mummy's cooking and credit card).

I got trampolining tonight, and thats just the most ludicrously fun sport in the world. And its the last session so i will probably be allowed to do somersaults :D:D

Ooh, sure thing. Let me know when you've got time, I have the next two days off (and most of next week) so we can probably sort out something.

I think this thread deserves to know that since last time I visited it things have gone even worse.

Today two bad things happened
1) My uncle died,
2) My mum went into hospital.

Yeah, not a great day.

Add to the fact that my granny has been in hospital for a month.

My dad's having a nightmare of a time. His wife and mother are both in hospital, and his brother's dead. He drank a bottle of Black Bush in the first hour of being back from England (my uncle lived there, my dad went over very early this morning when he deteriorated) this evening.

Not a great day at all.

I won $30,000 on a scratch-off lotto ticket, my car hasn't taken a shit in at least a month now (I am really pushing my luck...), and my kidneys are recovering from a really bad case of failure.

OK, I think I'll do a positive and negative spin on my life, as stands. I've met a really amazing girl. Well, I met her back in september and I've been trying to see her since then and it's been a bit...strange. Anyway, if I can get it to work it'll be great. My course is going well and I've just had a big stress relief after finishing my dissertation, although I've missed a shitload of lectures and that's making me feel really pissed off with myself. I've felt pretty crappy for a while, especially today cos I'm on a major comedown from a bit of a 3 day session, but I reckon it'll pass in a few days and I'll feel good again. I've got absolutely no money but fuck it, I'm a student, that's what happens. Actually, the most annoying thing at the moment is that I keep focusing on really pointless, depressing stuff for absolutely no reason. Basically I've got fuck all major problems at the moment and if I can stop making mountains out of molehills, my life will feel pretty good.
