It seems as though Bush always pledges his undying support right before he gives you the boot (There's no way Rumsfeld is leaving). Do you think Gonzo is a dead man walking?

Further, it seems some justice department emails have come out that shed more light on the subject. CYA is all these people ever try to do.

How important do you think these memos are and will they be the unraveling of certain people's careers?

Gonzalas gone?

No I do not think so. It took years to get rid of Rumsfield and he has 2 years left. I do not think he'll be gone.

Yeah, but Rumsfeld and the prez were insulated from any real political pressure for some time by a Republican legislature and by Bush's fearmongering. After the Democrats took control of congress and the senate, and the American people calmed down and took a look at the mishandling of our foreign and military policy Rumsfeld had to split. Gonzales will probably be forced out shortly.

If he does, he does and if he doesn't, he doesn't. One never knows.

Yeah, but I'm keeping hope alive. Maybe he'll be replaced soon by someone who doesn't consider busting people for "obscenity" a top priority for the Department of Justice.

I've been getting the gut feeling that gonzalez will not be holding on to his office for very long.

That will make...what, the third attorney general in 6 years? Heckuva job there Dubya

I'm just judging from the precedent that has been set by their past behavior. IMHO he will be gone within a month.
