How did you find NS?

Personally, I was bored (just got Civ IV) and was looking for an online nation game on google. NS popped up... and that's pretty much it. Poll to come once I see other responses...

I turned on my computer, opened my internet browser and there it was! Bold as brass, and sitting up begging for a biscuit.
Erm...the real answer is lost in the murky mists of time. I believe I was sent a link by someone, and decided to try it out for a bit. That bit is still going.

Someone on a music forum I used to visit suggested it so I joined and played my nation for a few weeks. Then I found the forum and now I haven't answered any issues for months and just use the General forum... How uninteresting.

Back in early Civ III days, I was browsing the CivFanatics forum and caught something about someone modding their nationstates nation into the game. Curiosity piqued, I discovered an earlier incarnation of NS. In those days, I was Greater Oshawa.
I never posted on general, thus Greater Oshawa never lasted. This newest addiction has yet to dissolve however (thanks to NSG.)
Another player told me about it. I don't like to talk about him, he doesn't post on the forums.

Ah, but it's much longer than a year. I only started posting in the forums about a year ago. I had a now dead nation a long time before that.
Last year in my web design class, some kids were playing nationstates on the computer next to mine. Since I was bored out of my mind, I decided to try it out and here I am today...

Roll in mud?
From wiki: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigs)
Pigs do not have functional sweat glands,[3] so pigs cool themselves using water or mud during hot weather. They also use mud as a form of sunscreen to protect their skin from sunburn. Mud also provides protection against flies and parasites.
Also:
Pigs are generally considered to be one of the more intelligent animals on the planet, being compared to dogs.[4] In one study conducted by a Pennsylvania State University professor, two pigs were taught to play rudimentary video games by manipulating a joy stick with their snouts while being rewarded with sweets.[5]
It has been shown that a pig's mood can be determined by its tail, if the tail is tightly coiled, the pig is happy. If the tail is hanging limp however, the pig is unhappy.[6]
According to a pig farmer featured on the television show Dirty Jobs, pigs dislike walking up, or walking down, any sort of stairs. During parts of that episode, pigs were seen being contained in an area not with fences, but with a single step.

I searched something on google (i don't remember anymore, it was a long time ago). but I found nationstates and started playing it during study halls. then the teacher's found out and said I couldn't play games in school. I brought it to the Principal and he thought it was a great site! he gave me and my friend permission to use nationstates, but as no one else in school really knew about it, that was as far as it went. great times

That's what I did.......mainly though for the reason because every single time I tried the sidebar links, there would be a database error and a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" and I concluded that the sidebar links were for people of sufficient internet connection.

A long long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was I roaming the interdimensional corridors of the netherworlds (not to be confused with the Netherlands) when I happened upon a plane of existence known commonly by its inhabitants as "The Internet". My curiosity aroused, I strode forth into this new world, and tripped over a political simulation game called NationStates. I enjoyed wandering the gamescape and conversing with my fellow userites. Eventually, the almight deity of this land, the great MaxBarry, called me forth to his service, and I became a Mod, the dread hand of order in a land that favors anarchy.
Either that, or a friend told me about it.
I found NS when one of my friends told me, who was told by one of his friends, who was told by one of his friends, and from then I don't know.....
After I got a new D-Link Card, and had more free time on my hands, I got into it....

Yeah, I vaguely remember a Chicken Pi...
As for how I got here... I've been trying to remember this whole time I've been reading this thread, but to no avail. I'm just going to assume it was magic.
A kid in my German class mentioned it to me.
You know, I don't remember either. I'd tried out NS years ago, creating one good and one evil nation (Unogia and The Drej). But that was back before custom issues, and got tired of the same six pretty quickly. I also never really got into RP.
I somehow stumbled across it again just under a year ago (can't remember how). I created my nation, got recruited into the Liberalia region, and hung out there for awhile until it started going down the tubes. By that time I'd started participating here more often, and pretty much got sucked in.
When I was in 8th grade (8th!), I was really into politics. I was a conservative too. Eww. Anyways, a liberal friend of mine who I viewed as being really extreme politically (actually, I'm definatly more extreme nowadays) introduced me to NS, back in 2004. I was kind of bored with it at first, but then I discovered II (I was in 8th grade, give me some slack). And from II, came NSG. Really, I have to say that NS has had a huge affect on me. I've become a different person because of it. And I'm not just sucking up to you guys because I've only been here with this nation for 3 days. Really.

It all begins in the year 200X.... where x =/= 5,6,7,8,9.... I saw some people playing it..... I created a nation.... and promptly discovered the game was terrible. Then last year... I overheard a conversation about NSG.... it's awesomeness (but not addictiveness) was very well conveyed... even though that wasn't the subject.... and now here I am.
I saw a link to it on another forum for another game I don't play any more. ;)

I was forced to flee Egypt and become a shepherd. I discovered a burning bush while tending the sheep. I approached the bush and discovered that the bush was on fire, but stangely, the flames did not consume it. Even more strangely, though, the bush spoke to me and commanded me to remove my sandals, as the land was considered holy. The bush then promised that I would live in a land flowing with flames and trolls.
The bush spoke the truth. Here I am on NSG.

Those were the days, when moderation seemed less prevalent and the more spammy threads were allowed to live. *reminisces*
