And here's the one passage I found most interesting, perhaps one that everyone should take note of:

In Britain, authorities say Web sites create terrorists at home. Ulph says the approach to a new recruit goes like this. "They throw a bomb into his mental universe. They throw a bomb into it and then and shatter it. And, then say, 'Right. Here's how we're going to reassemble these fragments,'" Ulph explains.

"You're not a proper Muslim, but here's how you can be a proper Muslim?" Pelley asks.

"That's how they argue it. And, they say, 'And, you're not a proper Muslim, nor are your parents.' Very important implication there. If your parents aren't proper Muslims, if the sheik of a mosque isn't a proper Muslim, what are you doing obeying them?" Ulph agrees.

Asked what they're told a proper Muslim is, Ulph says, "Well, once they've softened him up and he's now in freefall, they say, 'This is your identity. We're gonna put the "j" back into Islam. It's jihad.'"

This points out that the online jihadi recruiters make it a point to use the True Scotsman Fallacy on impressionable targets, claiming that Proper Muslims wage jihad and kill as many of the infidels and enemies as possible.

Which made realize: By constantly demonizing all Muslims as "barbaric," "savage," "3b1l," etc. etc. people with attitudes on Muslims similar to those shared by New Mitanni, Eve "I Swear I'm Not Deep Kimchi" Online and F1 Insanity are basically making it easier for the recruiters to brainwash the undecided Muslim youth into becoming future suicide bombers. Self-fulfilling prophecy, not to mention instilling a "If I'm going to be treated like a terrorist I well as might be one" mentality.

I have always maintained there are 'moderate' muslims, probably some 99,5% of them

but the 0,5% that are radical are loud, vociferous and willing to act, and often in control through intimidation.

I reject that accusation. It can be compared to blaming Churchill for the holocaust because he never said a nice thing about mr Hitler.

Even in Nazism, the overwhelming majority were not radical nor predisposed to kill. But the tiny minority that did want to kill and ethnic cleanse, they were in charge. Because the silent majority let them. Because the majority was intimidated into silence.

I see it happening all over again. People are intimidated into not saying anything bad about islam (sometimes thats the very people who for decades said plenty of bad things about certain other 'religions'). Radical islam gets all riled up about a few cartoons (a dozen friggin cartoons!). They have no sense of humor and expect us to cater to their sensitivities all the time. Well I refuse. I am not into imaginary deities like 'Allah'.

And radical islam and Nazism have a common enemy, and between 1941 and 1945 a common history. It may not concern the majority of muslims, but it sure does concern islam. After all, we're not gonna say nice things about nazism just because the majority of Germans didn't kill a jew during WW II?

No, but we will not say that all Germans are scum and deserve to be deported. If you think that not saying Islam is evil or a cult is akin to allowing the Nazis to commit the Holocaust, your nuts. We have invaded a country to destroy islamists, we are fighting a war to destroy Islamists, we are doing plenty against Islamists. What isn't helping are nutjobs like you alienating all the normal Muslims and stirring up a hatred for Western nations among them, you are actively providing Islamists with recruits for their insane jihad.

The Nazis could've been stopped with little effort in 1935 or 1936. In 1939 that was no longer the case. The idea is, to stop them before they get too powerful.

How come the "If They Don't Condemn It They Condone It" False Dilemma can be legitimately applied to Muslims, but it's wrong when I try to apply it to someone who actively alienates and pushes moderates to join the extremists?

WWII was about two insane, agressive regimes in control of one state in Europe and another of an Island state in the pacific. These two states were stopped by a force of allied nations. Comparing our present conflict with that of WWII is just nonsensical. The radical Islamists have no state, they have no standing army, they have no unified leader. The two wars are completely different.

Second, Allah is NOT the same as God or Yahweh. Allah is the invention of Muhammad who liberally copied and twisted bible and torah stories. Allah isn't the same as God just because some 6th/7th century psycho said so. And Muhammad declared himself the final prophet, thats mighty convenient isnt it? And every time he and his fellow travelers went and killed a bunch of people and raped the women and sold the kids into slavery, Muhammad had a 'vision' and claimed Allah approved of everything. You know what one of the problems is? Extremists who shout that "All muslims are Evil" or "Islam is an Evil religion" or "Muhammed was a murderous rapist and no prophet" and does not want to understand the deeper currents of discontent that set the riots in motion during the time those cartoons were published, people who see Islamic culture as a homogenous entity, and who fail to take into consideration the political aspects running through it all. They shout and make so much noise that the more moderate critics - critics who take a more factual approach - are drowned out if not ridiculed by the extremists themselves, often marginalized as 'apologists' or submissive idiots.

When people present their hate-filled and ill-informed drivel, many sensible people choose not to speak out because they don't want others to get the impression thet they are in league with such people. Sometimes they're driven to defend the people they would rather be critizising, but that's because the extremists are pushing it too far and make them into defenders.

And so it may happen that such angry speech can end up driving the moderate muslims into the lair of the extremes.

The way you're posting now isn't helping anything or anybody. So for the love of cheesecake, LEARN SOME FUCKING CIVILITY! And try to be a little more precise in your criticism.

Because looking at all civilians as collectively responsible could result in some ugly things if it was turned the wrong way. For example, would it have been acceptable for the Russians to go and napalm a few Chechen schools after Beslan? You make a mistake in assuming this is simply about recruiting personnel to carry out suicide attacks. Al-Qaeda and other jihadi groups are using the Internet as a medium where they can preserve, present and spread their twisted form of Islam as the versions most faithful to Qu'ran, not to mention their target audiences go beyond locals attending madrassas. It's about subverting moderates into joining their views if not their ranks outright, and obviously Al-Qaeda would be stupid to not exploit and capitalize on the global reach and relative anonymity the Internet provides, much vaster than every single subverted madrassa in the world could ever hope to achieve.

This is not simply about adding more suicide bombers. This is also about trying to convince future Muslims that their Islam is the proper Islam. It's psychological warfare, proselytizing and propaganda at once. And it's a bigger threat than you're giving it credit. There was no justification whatsoever for the attacks on the WTC. None of the civilians there had collaborated and become a legitimate target.

Who do you think stops the US government from nuking the whole f***ing region, the US citizen!
