Actually, you'd be surprised by the number of women who play MMOs. (Note: This is verified by voice chat in guilds, not by the number of female characters, dolts.)

My guild on Alleria in WoW had a fairly even ratio of guys to girls, as did my guild on Dark Iron on WoW. As did a guilds or two on EQ.

Why is it that so much more men are online in forums or games and playing video games than women? Its always puzzled me.
Because women who admit they are female online face 10 times as much harassment, so they obviously feel less welcome.

And when it comes to games, seriously...look at the games. Find me an online RPG that doesn't feature sexbot female characters in skimpy outfits, and I'll show you 20 more that not only dress all the females in thongs, but also feel the need to make them weaker than all the male toons. Despite the fact that females actually play MORE videogames than males, the marketing teams still labor under the misconception that all games must be targeted to 14 year old boys.

It impresses me that there are people clueless enough to ask questions this stupid. "Golly, why wouldn't them womenfolks use teh interwebs?" Open your eyes, lads. It's not remotely hard to see.

Does a complete set of The Sims expansions count as one game or ten.... cause that might be affecting your figures a bit. I'm not trying to be sexist or anything. It's just that I know that The Sims was one of the games that brought in female casual/non-gamers.... or so I have read.

I honestly do not know the answer to that. I would assume that expansions and sequels still count as different games, but I could be wrong.

Kind of makes you think, though...if so many women are buying Sims games and nothing else, then that's a shitload of women who obviously don't feel that any other game is well-tailored to what they are looking for. Game designers should probably take a look at why that might be. And I seriously doubt that it's as simple as "womenz like to play house!"

I'm not particularly into the Sims, but I certainly love the fact that there is no functional difference between playing with a male or female character. It's even queer-friendly!

You know one of the ideas behind Pacman/Puckman was "I want to make a game for teh grlz...grlz lovez eating... let's do that". I guess it was more successful than Sony's attempt "lets make it pinkz"

Yeah right. And when you find a female that prefers Warhammer Dawn of War, or Battlefield, instead of Sims, you just deny it, and prefer to label her as an "ugly, fat" chick, who probably has no social life, if you even accept that at all.

The worst part regarding female posers is that they do not allow the real females to get items, having to interchange pictures first to background check. That happened to me in the last MMORPG I played. I mean, Those guys are denying us the rewards of the manipulation of males through our gender to get what we want!

And yes, some, almost a lot girls love to play online, the problem is that male gamers are so into negation that they cannot accept it.

And then we are forced to be masked as male gamers to avoid leg humping and harassment, or to get some respect. Oh, the irony.

I LOVE Star Wars Galaxies and I really wish they would make Knights of the Old Republic 2 to fit internet play. I don't like games where you run around shooting shit up and constantly be guarding your back. Kotor 2 is a great game because of all the talking and how you can manipulate people around you. AND you don't have to be great at fighting, because you use more brains than brawns during battle.

For instance, the health care debate is specifically worded to exclude issues of women's health, and particularly reproductive health, which is categorized separately as a "women's issue."

Would you feel welcome participating in discussions where everything that directly applied to you was brushed aside as a side topic? Would you feel that your voice was respected if your concerns were dismissed as "special interests" or "men's issues" that weren't really part of the important subjects?
