Forgive me, but I don't think good or evil enter into this equation.

I suppose I thought "irresponsible troop leader" or "dumbass 12-year-old not paying attention or not staying with the group", or any number of things one can think when a lost-in-the-wilderness story makes the news cycle.

I don't wish any ill fortune on the boy, but it can't be too hard to keep up with a pack of boy scouts...quiet, they're not.

They should keep 'em on leashes...

I think that he went wandering, trying to find a place to eat his lunch when one of the locals was all condescending to him talking about how this is a nice forest with nice people and all that and walked him across the path to the picnic area away from the campsite and he got all "oh no you didn't" and turned around and came back after that dude had did that and then that guy had to turn around and start harassing him and the boy scout got a flash and went all nuts with his Swiss Army Knife and is now hiding out in a cave some where dragging his lower lip while yelling, "I didn't start this!" and they're going to have to get his scout leader to come in and talk him out.

But it's alright, because later on they'll free him to singlehandedly win the Jamboree once and for all...
