If you had to kick one state of the the USA, which one would it be and why?

For me, it'd be Utah, because they are just...wierd...there.

Or maybe maine, because nothing interesting goes on there. In fact, that should be Maine's state motto. "Nothing Interesting Happens Here. Ever."

Stop hating Texas! :D I was born there.

Well let's see, I hate:

-- California (too expensive)
-- South Carolina (too many Confederate flags are still waving over there)
-- Florida (too dirty)
-- Mississippi (too fat and dirty)
-- Alabama, with the exclusion of Birmingham. (too redneckish)
Believe it or not, Birmingham, AL does not actually have many rednecks...but the rest of the state does.

So it comes down to either South Carolina or Mississippi...well then I'd say Mississippi because if we throw out SC we lose some good ports, but if we throw out Mississippi we still have the Mississippi River with Louisiana.

Mississippi! :sniper:

Maybe because it's the first state and needs to retire?

Let's get rid of Idaho. It's just kind of there... you never really hear ANYTHING about it. Except potatoes. And the US probably gets those from elsewhere in the world anyway.

Let's get rid of Utah. That is where all the nuclear waste is going to be stored anyway (or was that Nevada?)

Then I'd say Colorado or Wyoming, because I can't tel them apart and it ticks me off.

Actually, I'd kick Virginia out, it might keep them from moving to my town, hating it because it has practically nothing EVEN THOUGH THEY WILLINGLY LEFT THE MALLS AND SHOPPING CENTERS IN VIRGINIA BECAUSE ALL VIRGINIANS ARE IDIOTS, then urbanizing it to make a mini-Va. Beach.

You know, with the whole, being under british rule for a bit. And yeh, i kno, war of independance. But lets face it, u were a country full of poeple , whereas, the Uk is a fair few miles away by sea, and the British soldiers were wearing red uniforms for gods sake. i mean why not just put neon signs where they were hiding. wud be less conspicuous. :headbang:

Main article: List of famous residents of Connecticut

George Walker Bush, the current President of the United States, was born in Connecticut. He is one of the members of the Bush political family, which has deep roots in the state. Other notable figures from the state span American political and cultural history, including Eli Whitney, Benedict Arnold, Nathan Hale, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Mark Twain, John Brown, Charles Ives, Katharine Hepburn, and many others.

I haven't been to Texas (the closest I've been is Florida) but no one who I know who's been has had anything bad to say about it, or the people. And considering 1 in 10 Texans are African American, they'd have to be quite a self-loathing bunch, don't you think?

Dave Barry devoted an entire chapter of his hilarious book, Dave Barry Hits Below The Beltway, to reasons why we should give South Florida (his home) back to Spain. Presumably, Mr. Barry intends to move out of South Florida after we give it back to Spain (and kick Spain's butt when they retaliate by declaring war on us).
I would be happy to let South Florida become its own country. I already know what their first act will be - invade Cuba and kill Fidel Castro. Or Maryland, because, judging by its shape, it is made up of territory that the surrounding states just didn't want.

Or maybe Indiana, because there are too many states that begin with the letter "I".

Then there is Ohio. No Republican presidential candidate has ever won the presidency without winning the state of Ohio. Get rid of Ohio, and they won't stand a chance. :p

Another reason to get rid of Texas: They're harming public school education all over the US.

The Texas Textbook Proclamation contains the rules that textbooks must follow if they are to be adopted by the state of Texas. Texas is the second largest purchaser of textbooks in the country. Its centralized book-buying policy controls 8 percent of the total school textbook market in America, and it spends $60 million a year to buy textbooks for Texas's 1,150 school districts. Since only a few titles of each subject are selected at six-year intervals, publishers vie ferociously to get their textbooks on the adoption list, and, since the Texas adoption choices can make or break a publisher, the publishers bend over backwards to comply with the Proclamation. Furthermore, the textbook designed for the lucrative Texas market is used throughout the country, so the enormous economic influence of Texas shapes the contents of America's textbooks. Concerning evolution, the only scientific topic that Texas feels compelled to regulate at present, the Proclamation states the following:

1.3 Textbooks that treat the theory of evolution should identify it as only one of several explanations of the origins of humankind and avoid limiting young people in their search for meanings of their human existence.

(1) Textbooks presented for adoption which treat the subject of evolution substantively in explaining the historical origins of humankind shall be edited, if necessary, to clarify that the treatment is theoretical rather than factually verifiable. Furthermore, each textbook must carry a statement on an introductory page that any material on evolution included in the book is clearly presented as theory rather than fact.

(2) Textbooks presented for adoption which do not treat evolution substantively as an instructional topic but make reference to evolution, indirectly or by implication, must be modified, if necessary, to ensure that the reference is clearly to a theory and not a verified fact. These books will not need to carry a statement on the introductory page.

(3) The presentation of the theory of evolution should be done in a manner which is not detrimental to other theories of origin.

My discussions with some of the state Board of Education members who were responsible for writing and passing Section 1.3 have convinced me that it was promulgated primarily for religious reasons and is hence a violation of the principle of church-state separation.

I am inclined to agree with you, considering how much trouble that state was in the 2000 presidential election. Or if we don't kick the WHOLE state out, we should at least remove Palm Beach County, because that's where they had the trouble.

And i KNOW Dave Barry agrees with me, because he says so in his book Dave Barry Hits Below The Beltway.

Seriously, Dave Barry described Fidel Castro as the most influential politician in Florida, "in the sense that most of our political debate revolves around people arguing who hates Castro the most"

That is a cool book! I LOVE Dave Barry's books! Dave is the funniest man in America!

So, either America's top academic institutions or it's economy.

Puh-lease. A small sacrifice to make considering all the good it would do. Numero uno, it would clear all the pasty white snowbirds off of our fine, beautiful beaches. They're either from New York or Massachusetts...never from anywhere else. Number two, it'd take all the bad drivers off of our roads. I've come to find that people with Massachusetts or New York on their plates are particularly horrible drivers. Number three, I wouldn't ever have to hear another loud-mouth Bostonian or New Yorker. Sorry to those of you out there who aren't obnoxious, but I don't think I've ever met a New Yorker or Bostonian who was worth everything they said they were. Well, yes, I am advocating the banishment of Virginia. But once I can move, I'll let North Carolina be kicked out. Then Kansas, Utah, Texas, New York, California, Massachusettes, Alabama, Mississippi, Lousiana, and Georgia can go.

Holy cow, that's 12 states!

You shouldn't worry about our economy though, pretty soon it will actually be Mexico's economy because of all the illegals.

So we evacuate the chosen state. For the residents own good of course. But it could be Mississippi that's chosen so you could be safe anyway. :)

I wouldn't want to lose Mt. Rushmore.... if North Dakota wasn't already chosen than pick that one. Only good thing from that state was the movie Fargo.

But they also elected fucking Mitt Romney so I would have to agree that they do have questionable taste in politicos...

He's actually King George III (remember George Washington?) And why not just kick out Texas - that would effectively remove Dubya from the Presidency because, as a citizen of Texas, he would no longer be a citizen of the United States.

What has Jon Carry ever done? The guy has the worst attendance record ever. A first class loafer. And if telling lies to a congressional Vietnam war committee wasn't enough, he voted against any attempt to investigate if there were still POW's in Vietnam (back in 1990 or 1991).

And as for Ted Kennedy, according to him (speech 1973 or so) there were 2 laws, one for the common man and one for the high and mighty. Well, he should know, he used his position to get away with murder at Chappaquiddick. He was drunk, w/o valid drivers license, speeding and fled the scene of an accident which caused death. At the time, it was Massachusetts state law that anyone involved in such an accident must serve a minimum sentence at least. He never did.

If you had to kick one state of the the USA, which one would it be and why?

For me, it'd be Utah, because they are just...wierd...there.

Or maybe maine, because nothing interesting goes on there. In fact, that should be Maine's state motto. "Nothing Interesting Happens Here. Ever."

wierd is good. quiet is good too. although utah's kind of wierd is kind of quiet too.

my nominees are that i'd give texas, new mexico, arizona, and the southern half of california back to mexico along with the rio grande river.

northern california, along with nevada, oregon, washington, b.c. canada, yukon canada, and alaska would form a new "pacific states" nation.

hawaii would of course be granted indipendence and all off shore american territories returned to their rightful owners.

(oh yah; and i'd be a proud citizen of that pacific states!)

George Washington was not a hereditary king, he was just a president - he specifically refused to be king and gave up the presidency after two terms, no 22nd needed. GWB got his position because his daddy had it. They both paraded the imperial presidency and trampled on the serfs (ok, bad euphemism for the middle class). Nope, this guy is George II, pure and simple.

Remember, America was not always a corporatist imperial hegemon. It used to strive for ideals, it used to look out for its downtrodden. It used to be ethical. It used to respect the rights of the powerless over the preferences of the powerful. In short, it used to strive to be what all countries should be: just.
