Adopt an American

Politeia utopia
15-03-2007, 14:06
As the relations between the US and the rest of the world have become increasingly strained, we may be in need for a better understanding of each other. I understand from NSG that people are often misinformed of the other.

This is the chance I know you have always waited for; you can now be linked to a (non-)American and discuss daily life, religion or politics and gain generally a better understanding of the world of the other.

So Americans now is the chance, give yourself up for Adoption to a non-American buddy!

Peoples of the world adopt an American; you know it is the right thing to do!

;)

Is it a done deal then? Have I adopted Callisdrun? Would Callisdrun fit in with my weird and eccentric English village life? for instance will the naked frolicking be an issue? Or the baiting of non locals? Also, does Callisdrun have a man tail or a lady hole?? These are important questions!

We're really looking foward to it. My wife is planning some day trips for fun stuff in our area, with some relaxing by our lake time in-between.

There's going to be a lot of chillin' and grillin', some fireworks, their kids have never had "smores" or hot dogs roasted over a camp fire-I have a new stone firepit in the back now for both.
Hopefully, something good will be playing at the drive-in movie theatre while they are here-thats a nice evening out with the kids.

There are too many USians I would want to adopt to make it in any way a viable proposition. Also, I don't like the word adoption, since it suggests some sort of familiar connection, and I'm just not into incest.

But if I really had to narrow it down, I think I'd adopt Sumamba, Arthais and Trostia at a bare minimum.

New York City is something to see-I dont love going to the city, but two Saturdays ago, we went down to see a friend perform in Carnegie Hall-between that and dinner/drinks near Times Square,we had a really nice evening.

Your boyfriend must like to drive-thats a long ride. I've made a shorter ride from NY to Florida for Bike Week in Daytona,Fl and Orlando for Disney a few times. Its a haul.

If he has driven around here for baseball games,I'm sure he has a lot to show you here-you see and experience so much more when you drive.

In a few years, when the kids are grown, my wife and I plan to drive the entire country, taking our time and seeing all we can. I've been to almost every sstate, but I havent seen a fraction of what there is to see yet.

I think we Americans cannot be redeemed and that adopting one of us will only spread our evil, inhuman ways. I think we need to build a giant wall around America not to keep those job-stealing-taco-eating-funny-hat-wearing immigrents from coming in, but to keep us from coming out.

All european beer tastes like nectar of the gods compared to the poor excuse found in America (microbrews can be good).

Seriously; coffee, baseball, American football and guns shall all be banned. So too shall the Bible.
Instead he can have ordinary tea, Earl Grey tea, a list of the peerage (I can never remember whether it's Burke's Peerage or Twurp's peerage... Guess who's been reading too much Discworld), seven history books, a lesson in naval tactics and a top hat.

Not really - proper beer should be drunk at about 12-14 degrees Celsius. I think. Certainly not the <5 degrees C that lager is served at. It's not 'warm'. It's just warm compared to lager.

Though I seriously don't know when I first stumbled onto Bert, but it is at least 10 years back in time... And I thought it was common knowledge these days. After sept. 11th all the old safety-movies got a kind of renaissance - of course, in these modern days good ol' Bert is replaced by the "Running man on fire". Not as child friendly perhaps, but he gets his point across...

Anyone else remember having a "pen pal" in grade school? We did at mine, for a couple years.. it was an interesting way to get kids to practice writing and penmanship without making it seem like work.. of course, it got boring pretty quick, and by the time you heard back six weeks later, your 8-year old brain had forgotten whatever it was you were discussing.. but it was an interesting tradition, and allowed us to read tales of exotic places like Connecticut and South Carolina. :p

Anyway, I'll admit I haven't read this topic, but I guessed it might be a spoof on the days of the 'pen pal.' So, has the internet killed off the pen pal? I would think so, but maybe someone with kids might disagree.

Northern Borders is SOUTH american

Where in South America? There's quite a few countries. And I apologize for all the times the US have had a hand in overthrowing democratically elected governments, inciting civil wars, and causing all sorts of other craziness throughout the whole continent...

But tell Northern Borders I'll be well behaved =D

Too late for that. We hate you too much for that, and we are all potential terrorists.

Anyway, I´m brazilian, the only non-spanish South American country. We speak portuguese.

If you want me to adopt you, you´re welcome. I can sell you into slavery later.

Maybe the reason is because Russian letters are all backwards, like their R which is backwards too.

You have a past filled with S&M? Wow that is a lot of information. Looks like you wont need to be taught.

If you ever come to Brazil, I can adopt you. And I have a cushion for you too: mine.

I see great innequity betwixt the number of us 'Mericans who seek adoption, and those seeking to adopt. One would almost think we had managed to alienate the whole world.

*isn't up for adoption**

* Unless, of course, you can present me with a boreal forest as pretty as my own (there are none), a good and diverse music scene, mild weather, no scared suburbanites, and less annoying neighbors.

Only once a week for me. And I don't require bullets.
