Chasing the Duclod Man

This is is no ordinary story.

It's a thriller tale that will make your skin crawl. It's a tale of mystery all steaming from a simple message:

Q: What would a duclod like about the land of the giants?
A: Standing in two closets without touching either knob.

This story is not for the weak of heart.

Those who love the sensation of a racing pulse as you read this piece will stay until the end...

This story is different from other mystery thrillers you may have encountered. This is a real story about a college age student whose sole purpose became to track down the person who sent her the letter...

Chasing the Declod Man (http://www.advocate.com/currentstory1_w.asp?id=42749)

TEASER...

When Iowa college students began receiving anonymous letters referring to them as “duclods” and darkly alluding to their bisexuality, one recipient became obsessed with finding the sender’s identity.

You have to read the rest to find out more.

I found this today and it is not only extremely well-written but it is extremely interesting.

Would it be wise to read this right now before going to bed or should I wait until tomorrow? :/

You can read it now -- intriguing more than frightening.

Having read it myself before going to sleep, I'd say it didn't have any consequences. It's a thriller that isn't so much frightening as intriguing. It is however a true story. It's an article written about the chasing of the person responsible for mysterious; cryptic letters written to different students at Grinell and a couple of other college. The chase happens through the web...

The moral of the story: Don't feed the damned trolls!

Interesting take. Why do you say that?

I just read it. Intriguing and creepy. Although I really would have liked the ending to be more... final.

It does give a whole new, evil dimension to white text, though. :/

I don't know, there is something fun about it....

Well this duclod man seems to be little more than your standard internet troll, with some added mental problems(is there a word for a phobia of bisexuals?). And as we all know, trolls thrive on attention. Ignoring them is like sucking the oxygen out of a fire.

Unfortunately this is only clear in hindsight, but if the duclod letters were largely ignored he would, most likely, have gone back to his websites to troll people there.

Of course, I say this with absolutely no background in psychology so I could be totally wrong.

Of course, I say this with absolutely no background in psychology so I could be totally wrong.Well, I don't know - seeing how he didn't really have a way to see the reaction of the recipients upon getting the letters and how there wasn't really any significant media attention given to them, I would think he already was pretty much "ignored" as far as his knowledge of any reaction to the letters is concerned. I mean, even if he saw that one article in the school newspaper, that was nowhere near enough to be responsible for 14 years of sending letters.
