Here's My Presidential Candidate...

Ron Paul, the only libertarian in Congress, is running for the Republican nomination. He probably doesn't stand a chance against the mass media, who prefers Guiliani, but I'm still sending him a check.

HOUSTON Mar 12, 2007 (AP)— Ron Paul, a nine-term Texas congressman who describes himself as a lifelong libertarian, announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination Monday.

That's the difference between the two primaries, you know. The Democrats run against each other and the Republicans run against the media. I doubt many will ever even hear of Paul's candidacy, but it would be a real eye-opener if they were able to hear his message.

Pulling out of the UN is a great idea. The UN is the most corrupt, incompetent and do-nothing organization in world history.

Tell me, after all that grand talk of 'never again', what did the UN do about:

-the red terror (Soviet Union, China, Ethiopia's "Dergue")
-Red khmer genocide of 30% of Cambodia population
-Yugoslavia civil war massacres
-Rwanda massacre
-Darfur massacre of black Africans by islamist Arabs

Remember when whatshername Albright (Clinton foreign secretary) said that 500,000 dead kids in Iraq were 'worth it' (sanctions).

And what did UN officials do except to enrich themselves.

It's hardly fair to give the UN no enforcement power of its own and then bitch about them doing nothing. And the military arm of the UN is hardly its most significant work. If all they did was UNICEF, they'd be a worthwhile organization. But they a shitload more than that.

Due to the "veto everything council" of which the US is a not insignificant part. You can't exactly do anything when any one jerkwad on an arbitrary group of asshats have the ability to kill any decision at will. Besides, what is the UN going to do? Bleed on somebody?

That is not, for the most part, the fault of the UN. The UN does not make decisions, nor formulate its own policy. UN policy and decisions are made by the USA, UK, France China and Russia. If there's anyone you want to blame for those kinds of foreign policy disasters, it's them.

So why do you think Ron Paul is so great?

Also I gotta wonder, do the Republicans really not run against each other in the Republican primaries? Very interesting and certainly news to me.

How do you figure that the Dems don't fight with the media when theres a big kerfuffle RIGHT NOW about them refusing to debate in the one sponsored by Fox news?

Just a couple questions for ya there OP.

So, Myrmidonisia wants to vote for the "if the UN doesn't suck up to the US, we should leave it", "Let's commit war crimes at will with no accountability", "let's turn the USA into a nationalistic country that fails to even account for the importance of immigrants to its economy" candidate.

For some reason, I'm not surprised.

These days, ever more immigrants do not come to work, but to sponge off welfare.

Illegal immigrants out, all of them.

I'll be registering Republican to vote for Paul in the primary, but it'll be despite his immigration policy, not because of it.

DING! Win.

The UN is ineffective and practically useless BECAUSE of the US's (and China, Russia, France, Germany, etc...) power to veto ANYTHING they don't like. Give the right to veto a veto to a majority vote and the organization would have teeth.
