The only thing bad about owning a pet, is the fact that you will end up burying them. My potbellied pig, Sugar, passed away this morning with a grin on her face.
Three months ago she stopped eating and became constipated. So I called the vet who came out and said nothing was wrong with her.
Two months ago she couldn't eat and I couldn't find fresh droppings in her part of the backyard. The vet said it was pnemonia and gave her anti biotics.
One month ago I brought her inside the house because she was still sick and was thin as a rail. Then I saw a lump on her belly and again called the vet, who perscribed exlax. I asked about the lump and got a response along the lines of: "It's probably a calcium deposit." after raising my eyebrow and silently cursing the vet's less than enthusiastic attitude I decided to do as she said.
My pig's stomach ruptured because I was too afraid not to listen to the damn vet. I buried her in the backyard around 9a.m.
RIP Sugar.
It was a good ten years. :(
