How much TV do you watch?

Kanabia

According to various people, the fact that I haven't really sat down and watched TV for more than 10 minutes at a time for some three years now makes me rather odd. Watching DVDs doesn't count, although I do that on my computer anyway - i'm talking about run of the mill television programming, both pay and free-to-air TV.

Anyway, I thought it'd be interesting to see what the average is amongst this particular perfectly normal and well adjusted group of people... ;) So, how much do you watch? Any particular weekly shows that you just can't miss or do you only tune in to watch the news? Or perhaps you're like me and are completely ignorant about the shows that all of those people with nothing better to do gossip about? :P

None. I have no television. There's nothing on worth watching, so when I moved out of my parents' house I didn't bring it with me.

No telly licence fee for me, ha! And I still get BBC Radio :p

sometimes i'll sit down at 6pm to watch the simpsons and then not get up again til the 9 o clock film on film4 has finished or even later if the 11 o clock film is any good. although now that sky1 has gone and i seem to have seen all the simpsons episodes anyway i barely watch tv at all except for the occaisional episode of scrubs.

Yeah, that's pretty all my problem is. Occasionally a cool show slips my notice the first time around so if I can motivate myself to spend the money i'll buy some DVDs instead. Strangely, doing this and watching them on my computer would probably be more cost effective than buying a TV if I lived on my own.

It depends...the main shows I watch religiously are The Daily Show, Mythbusters, and Dirty Jobs. So between 2-3 hours a day, but only a few days a week.

Edit: Unless there's a Law and Order marathon. Then I'm glued in :D

i watch the news a few days a week, and when i'm tired or have a hangover i often spend an afternoon in the weekend watching a sport match. somtimes i watch an episode of the simpsons. also when there's a good movie on tv i sometimes watch it, but rarely.

I actively enjoy and deliberately seek out "Lost," "House," and "Boston Legal." There are several other shows that I will cheerfully watch if they happen to be on when I am near the TV - "Heroes," "Grey's Anatomy," and "Desperate Housewives" are all regulars on that list, as all of them are reasonably entertaining shows that air during the hour when I tend to be in the kitchen, where the television is located.

I usually watch a few hours a week. I watch Grey's Anatomy regularly, but I think that's it. I used to watch Gilmore Girls regularly, but I haven't seen that in a few months and now I have no idea what's going on. Can't think of any other TV shows that I actively seek out.

My husband and I have two TV's, but we get no channels on one (the big one for video games and movies) and we get PBS, and NBC if the wind is right, on the little one (for VHS).

Though I do miss TV sometimes, for a few shows (House, Scrubs) and for those BBC costume dramas that A&E airs on occasion, I've lived happily without it for...hmm...going on four years? Yeah, about 3.5 years now.

Actually, I can't think of any of our friends who get TV, either. We must just be weird.

I very rarely watch TV. It's just boring and I hate commercials. And I got really sick of caring what movie/TV star was doing what with whom.

Also, all the really good series will come out on DVD which means I can watch them at my leisure instead of scheduling my life around them.

You totally chose the options so that I had to pick the last option, I knows it.

Often I won't watch TV for days and I almost never watch on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays because there's nothing on on those days. I also only watch in the evenings, never during the day.

I will always watch Tuesday nights (Gilmore Girls, House, Grey's Anatomy) mainly for House, really, but since I usually just got home after working 11 hours I just plop down in front of the TV and watch them all.

And since I'm mostly always on the computer these days and the TV is right beside my desk I sometimes have one of those crime shows (The Closer, Cold Case, Criminal Intent) running parallel with being on NS or just futzing around on the internet. It's not like they're all that hard to follow.

Now, however, House is on, so goodbye NS until the next commercial break. :p

Oh it varies everyday. Sometimes I may watch no TV for a week and other times 5 hours in a day.

Usually I watch the History Channel if something good about older history comes on that I haven't seen. Sometimes I watch the Daily Show or Jeopardy or Mythbusters.

I guess averaged out, I watch about an hour a day?

I watch House, the news, the Daily Show, Jeapardy and ESPN once in a while now. However, this year will be the first time I have cable, allowing me to possibly watch every Mets game this year...So currently averaging maybe an hour, but that might bloom to three hours a day in around three weeks.

Anything I ever feel like watching I just download anyway. I do have a small T.V. myself but it hasn't been hooked up to any satallite/cable stuff in years, partially because I accidentely broke the little connecter that makes that possible, and partially because I only use it for my game consoles anyway. If I can find a way to hook them up to my monitor I'll get rid of the T.V. completely.

Last year I would watch tv for about 3-4 hours a day during the weekdays. Now that it's a new semester at school, I only watch about 3 hours a week since I come home at around 8 at night because of my class schedule.

2-3 hours a day voluntarily, or less if the good shows are reruns. Involuntarily (my roommate turns the TV on when he wakes up in the morning and turns it off again after I've tried to go to sleep) as much as I am unable to drown out, ignore, or avoid.

I have a career in the media and am therefore obligated to ask, you sure you want to do that?

Of course the answer is yes, just has to be asked now and then...

I have certain shows that I like to watch, then I turn the TV off. There have been occasions that the TV will go on and stay on for a while, but it's not when I'm by myself.

Here are the shows I'm watching this semester (I say semester because my class schedule determines what nights I can watch TV):

Monday: WWE Raw
Tuesday: class, boo, or I would watch Idol and House
Wednesday: America's Next Top Model, Top Design
Thursday: Scrubs, 30 Rock, E.R. (if I got home from class earlier I'd be able to watch The Office too)
Friday/Saturday: I generally don't bother unless I'm hanging out with somebody who wants to watch standup on Comedy Central
Sunday: Battlestar Galactica

I actually have a pretty de facto rigid schedule.

Mon-Thurs from 10:30 to 12:00 I watch Adult Swim.

Sun 8-9 I watch Simpsons and Family Guy new episodes

Then from 10:30 to 12:00 I watch Adult Swim on Sun

Wed at 10:30 I watch the new episode of South Park (and when it's on, Drawn Together)

When I get really bored, I'll watch Discovery Channel, History Channel, or Comedy Central when the crappy stuff is on.

In retrospect I guess my OP was a little off. I also watched the Glass House occasionally, before, well...you know. :(
