I am a nonreligious atheist.

it's simple, i have been browsing the NS-player topic and started wondering how many of you we're actually christian? because there seemed so many of them (nothing offensive meant there, its just that there are so few around here). I happen to be atheist and well curious.

There isnt a "how the f##* should i know" box! There really should be. Too many converstations with intelligent religious people tend to cloud atheism a bit.

I am protestant, but I voted reformed since I am not Catholic, although I don't agree with the reformed theology.

sorry 'bout that, I don't really know all the christian factions, but I did leave out sjiítisch and soenetic islam as well so that should be allright...

People should remember to always include "Other" as a poll option.

Well, that's generally what always happens. The best a religion poll could do would be to have catergories of religions. But then epoepl would complain about religions being in the wrong catergory.

You forgot about the inevitable debate about whether Buddhism should be considered a religion, a faith, a philosophy or just a worldview. Nevermind the flames for it being spelled incorrectly in the poll.

I know, but it has happened more than once on NSG... Also you forgot Judaism. Much less than a billion members but still probably worth putting as an option.

Missed Judaism though. The amount of Jews compared to the amount of Hindus makes that a minor issue compared to some of the polls we've had in the past.

I have strong beliefs but I'm not part of a particular religion but the one that I normally closely associate with (Sikhism) isn't on the list anyways.

You forgot Agnostic, Jewish, Pagan, Baha'i, split Christian into two categories but not Muslim, and redundantly said Spiritualist with "Atheist but Kinda Believe in Something."

Just a single belief, really. Same goes for atheism. One doesn't even have to be nonreligious to be atheist/agnostic, they could just follow a religion that has no God.

Spiritualist and "kinda believing in something" are not the same thing.

I went from Catholic to Unitarian, breifly back to Catholic to agnostic to athiest.

Well, it may sound odd, but my religion and my political ideology overlap. I am a Fascist in both. I believe there is a god, but not one who actively effects earth. I believe that what happens on this planet is left up to us people and that because of this the state is spiritual to some extent. It also stresses loyalty to those in the state as well as chairity. To help the state and those in it is ultimately in your self interest. I have some Christian and Zoroastrian influences in there as well.

It's a little strange, to say the least. A good way to put it might be monistic deism with a strong teleology based in technological development and scientific progress.

Anti-religious, foremost. Secondly- atheist towards all current belief systems.

Beyond that, I consider myself agnostic with a recurring tendency to not really give a fuck.

Hindu. and Candombliero. some white protestant americans can actually pronounce "hindu", (though not all of them), so that's what I introduce myself as. Candomble is thousands of years old, has more practitioners than judaism or sikhism, in case anyone thinks it's a cult. it's not. I have nothing more to say.

Was Muslim originally, but eventually turned Deist, then into agnostic and finally into an atheist.
