Hey, genius: if you'd actually read the report you would have noticed that it refers to the full report at http://www.express.co.uk/news_detail.html?sku=1356
And FYI, it's clearly a non-political topic, so even a brain-dead leftie zombie should have no problem with it.
But since you are obviously happy confining yourself to Dishonest Liberal Media outlets, go ahead and wallow in them.

Willendorf. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_of_Willendorf)
I remember reading about the Venus figurines in my Anthro course. Very fascinating, very fascinating indeed. My standing favorite explanation is that these were carved by pregnant women, who had nothing better to do, as self representations. Specifically, with a top-down view. Absolutely fascinating, don't you think?

I can't be the only person to see the irony...
Article about historical appeal of fuller figured females... accompanied by picture of token 'skinny chick'.
A total non-story... as mentioned, this hasn't been 'news' since the Venus of Willendorf. Hell, look at what was considered an attractive female form in the art of just a few centuries ago.

I'll take "Silly references" for 500, Alex.
"Baby Got Back" may have been a smash hit song in the early 1990s, but researchers say the song might have been wildly popular some 15,000 years ago as well.

Wow. Even when they have a science section they still don't have a clue how science is supposed to be applied.
Their art showed women with exaggerated bottoms, but their art also showed men with exaggerated penises. Really really exaggerated penises. As long as the figures were tall.
Does that mean that they wanted men with penises as big as they were? I doubt it.
Penises and the whole area around a woman's hips, represent fertility. Exaggerated fertility, more food. Simple as that.
Of course, there's also the matter of looks representing socio-economic status. In areas where people die of wasting diseases like chronic diarrhea, people don't consider skinny to be attractive because it is a potential sign of bad health. Fat, as a sign of cardio-pulmonary disease however is unknown because so few people get fat.
We're just the opposite. No one in the Western world dies of diarrhea, but we do die of heart attacks and complications from diabetes. So fat is unattractive, but skinny is fine until it gets the the point of saggy skin and sunken eyes. But even then, that's mostly in women's fashion magazines. Pornography where women are supposed to be attractive, not merely pretty, features women with quite a bit more flesh to flash.

This is news?
Honestly... I've known this for ages. This is nothing new. The figurines are obvious exaggerations, of course, of the human body. However, they did forget to mention that larger hip size also was a sign of having wide, premo-birthing hips. :D But meh.
Honestly though... this is nothing at all new.

I think you are blurring the boundaries a little too much. If you are a hundred pounds over your 'perfect' weight, you'll be unhealthy. If you are a hundred pounds under it, you'll probably be dead.
What you are referring to as 'fat', then - must be 'morbid obesity'. The sunken eyes and saggy skin is descriptive of anorexia. But - there is a whole world between those extremes.
And, even in that world - there is a confusion - we are TOLD that the skinny chick is what we should like... so guys marry a skinny chick - then cheat on her with her heavier friend. Girls are told they have to be skinny to look good - and the evidence bears them out because 'attractive' clothes are only designed to fit girls with no curves.
i think our media images, and our personal images are getting conflicted. More and more people are finding that the 'media' idol isn't what they really want... and more and more of them are moving on to reality, rather than taking another shot at the 'media' lie.
Men (and women) have always found women attractive when they had figures that look healthy, satisfied and fertile. True then, still true now - under the gloss.

Damn media, they are trying to brainwash us, and if your right they're causing marital strife. Now thinking back to my espionage thread with my crusade on brainwash I think that it is safe to say there is intellectual war going on and that having a stand against these mental oppressors is necessary.
