Hello,

I have a question for BA users. Is this a good airline? I have a flight coming up, Boston-London-Athens with a 4 hour layover in London. Does BA serve dinner on evening flights, and how is the food in coach? Do the terminals at London offer many services? And what have your overall experiences been flying BA?

Thanks...

I've flown with them only once before on a similar route (my final destination was Sofia, Bulgaria). Yes, they serve dinner on the evening flights and the food is average. Not the worst, not the best. No problems with British Airways. The only criticism I have is that they recently restricted the number of checked suitcases you can bring with you without additional charges.

I honestly don't remember too much abot the terminals though. I've switched over to Lufthansa/United exclusively so that I can accumulate airmiles faster.

Enjoy your trip...Athens is a great place to spend a week or two.

BA is one of the best airlines there is. any flight as long as boston-london-athens will provide meals. economy class seats are perfectly comfortable and better than most i've been on - for a start they're not made of that nasty scratchy fabric you get on most planes - and the food's as good as any. the two main london airports are both huge and whichever one you go through you won't want for services.

It is a decent airline. I have flown the Seattle/London route a handful of times. Was always a good flight. However that was a number of years ago. I have not flown BA in awhile due to the fact the flights are normally alot more expensive then competing airlines.

Anyone still serves food in coach any more?

I have not flown with them long-haul but recently I flew from London to edinburgh with them and was impressed yb the comfort of the economy class seats and by the fact that even on an hour and a half flight they served food - poached salmon - very nice.

I know a few people who have flown with them long haul and I have not heard any complaints.

well if you mean by services, cheap hookers and strip joints...then no. But as you are flying from the USA to London you will be going to either Gatwick or Heathrow, the latter having 60 million passengers and Gatwick not far behind. You should be able to find most of what you need there. TBH the only thing i need is a beer or two.

Be warned, if you are going to Heathrow some parts of it are from an age when archetects forgot that people have to use buildings.

BA use lots of different types of planes, they normally always serve food and it's actually allright. They have tv's for you to watch where you are on the map (if not that a crappy film) and other stuff like the temperature and the altitude. The only things that may change is the general comfort, sometimes the seats are not that comfy, more like a coach, but sometimes they have nice comfy leather seats. It's up to chance really.

i've flown long-haul (London to the US (NY or California)) a few times on BA, Virgin Atlantic and American. overall i have to say the services provided by all three were pretty much the same, with Virgin being the most modern (planes, movie technology, seats, etc)... but other than that BA is just as good as any other. some would say excellent as for even short-haul flights they do meals and complimentary drinks. in fact we flew BA for our recent trip to Amsterdam, and there was just barely time for them to serve the food/drinks and tidy it away before landing again... but damnit they did it! :P
