Ganje Growing Granny

A 68-year-old grandmother who cooked with cannabis to ease her depression, aches and pains was yesterday ordered to carry out 250 hours unpaid work after she was convicted of growing and possessing the drug.
Patricia Tabram walked free from Carlisle Crown Court, despite being convicted for a second drugs offence which could yet see her evicted from her housing association bungalow in Northumberland.
Judge Barbara Forrester told the grey-haired pensioner she must pat £1000 costs as well as carry out 175 hours unpaid wok for cultivating four canibis plants and a further 75 hours for possessing powdered cannabis which she stored in her kitchen and added to cakes, curries, casseroles and soups.
Outside court, the grandmother of two insisted she would defy the judge and continue to take cannabis.
She said:"I am still going to medicate with cannibis. This court is not fit for the purpose and I am taking up an appeal and putting in a complaint about the fact I was not allowed to have a defence. The law and justice do not exist in this country any more."
Tabram, flanked by well-wishers, said she would continue the fight and was prepared to go to jail.
Carlisle Crown Court heard she used the drug to fight the depression she has suffered since 1975 when she discovered her 14-year-old son dead in his bed.
It also eased pain which persisted as a result of two car crashes and she said that she adding cannaibs to a cup of hot chocolate gave her five hours without pain.

Most awesome granny evar.

Also alliteration FTW!

Good for her.

Why do governments persist in this futile and damaging effort to prevent those in pain from relieving themselves? It’s a toss-up between sadism and tax profits.

Well yeah, the law sucks. But why was she threatened with losing her northumberland house in a carisle crown court. Is it not Morpeth for Northumberland cases?

Also this it yet another reason why bernicia should declare its independence.

I figured that the housing association could evict her, not that the court was going to.

Most old people housing in Northumberland is local government controlled though.

I mean, either way, I am against her eviction, I just don't like my county being involved in it and wanted to highlight that.

Well that, and my move for northumberland's independence. (Also, I look sternly at you cumbria, for your sucking up to princess tony in this case).

In conclusion: Fight prejudice; Fight the ban.

Rumour has it that my grandmother didn't mind a bit of wacky baccy (to help with arthritis or something). She did live next door to a band for a while. Damn rock'n'roll, corrupting our elders.

Either one is a bit posh. So I'm going to go with shilbottle.

(BTW, do you ever get bored of the sign editing for that place? because I don't. Also, good job with the council for giving the l a cursive loop at the base to help.).

One of the softest, according to many reports, the details of one of which is at the bottom of this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6429239.stm) page.
Not as bad as tobacco, and far better than alcohol.

That's my thoughts. The drug industry is so very gigantic in its current black-market state, that if they were to legalize it, I can't even begin to guess where it would go, and the inevitable tax revenue from that. I'd imagine Phillip-Morris already has the packs designed for the day the US becomes hippie-land.

(I'm even a bit of a dispassioned observer on this matter, as my well known refusal to ever use drugs, legal or otherwise, still stands.)

It's the cheapest drug in the world if you grow your own. Even aspirin is more expensive.

This woman has defied the government

Therefore she should be punished

Crime should be met with punishment, it is a basic tenet of society

Bah and so on that note, mugahbi should just be left alone?

Silly rules need to be disobeyed, and got rid of.

Yes he should be left alone, because foreign intervention has worked so well recently

Silly rules are rules nonetheless and should be conformed to. Any alterations to them should be made by the people in power, not by the average plebian on the street.

Nope! :D I have seen it reappear just days after being cleaned off - someone has too much time on their hands!

Oh, and the law in question clearly needs reviewing.
