Where you think you going?

IL Ruffino

.. in life?

Are you living in the moment? Are you planning for the future? Do you have a realistic outlook for the future?

Right now, where do you think you'll be in the future? The future may be next year, 5 years away, maybe even 20 years. I always wonder what I'll be up to in the future and what will become of me. Will I be pretty, will I be rich? Will we have rainbows, day after day?

I think I have a very unreal idea about my future. I'll probably end up living at home with my parents and working at Wal-Mart. I'll use my art school diploma as a coaster, my camera as a paper weight. :(

How about you? Will you be living in the gutter? Will you be living at all?

In my plan for after university is to kill myself, or die trying. That or get a high paying job doing shit with computers, whichever the TV thinks I should do.

Where you think you going is where i should be going every day. :D

Seriously though, you'll have a few days to sing "You Are My Sunshine" to anonymous people on the phone, at taxpayers' expense. It's not all bad.
As for me, i'm barely here as it is. Or there. Anywhere, really.

Bah! MTV is is $5.00 a month up here. I'll just watch Much Music. It is like MTV, but plays less non-music related programming, MTV adds, and has a sock puppet.

As for the other part ...
A friend of mine once sent me a post card with a picture of the entire planet Earth taken from space. On the back it said, "Wish you were here."

I'll be a modern artist/garbageman. I'll paint squares and make up weird metaphors for them and then sell them on ebay for hundreds of dollars. And being a garbageman pays almost twice as much as being a teacher, so... yeah. I'll have enough money to do whatever I want, and won't be important enough to worry about getting caught screwing up.

I've got my eyes set on a career as a polotican, or to work in the civil service, failing that I'll work as a history teacher, if my band dosen't make it (chance of that happening 100%)

Perhaps we will meet over there sometime? ;)

Are you just going for Hajj, or are you moving there?

Just don't get yourself caught up in some anti-american BS, because you know how that will end for ya, since you are a US citizen, or at that point, a former one.

i'm living in the moment because right now everything is rather overwhelming. but i do like to day dream about the future. my day dreams usually revolve around winning the lottery, i don't like to think about my prospects without a big lottery win. they generally involve lying drunk in some squalid room or van otherwise

in the next year or so i expect little to change, but within the next 2/3 - 5 years i hope to have got my own apartment, glitziness to have moved in, to have defeated my depression, and started my photography studio hopefully in a corner of the offices our family business is renting currently :)

i also hope to amass the complete collection of ZZ Top albums :D

in the next 20 years, who can say? hopefully family, marriage, lots of sex... that sort of thing (maybe not in that order ;))

I'm not sure where exactly I'm going at the moment. I'm thinking about trying to stay here in France for at least another semester, possibly to finish up my degree. If I do that I'll stay here and hopefully do this assistanceship program the French government has, so I'll stay over here for a total of about 2 years. If I can't swing that I'll go back home to Michigan to finish my degree and then come back and do the assistanceship thing.

After that I'll probably go to grad school, although I still haven't decided whether or not I want to study Teaching English as a Foreign Language or French.

My ultimate goal is to get a research fellowship at an A-level research facility here in the States.

A more likely goal is that I'll end up climbing the ranks of academia as a post-doc in about 7 years.

well i'll be in uni for at least 6 years and a half. after that i will most likely specialize (something between 2 and 8 years). after that i'd like to go work in the third world and after that in politics.
i think the first two sentences are quite realistic, the last one not really.

I want to fly planes commercially. I'm working on that right now. I will be working on that for the forseeable future. I really want to live my dream and I'm trying hard to acheive it.

I don't want to be saying "I could have been a contender" fifteen years from now.

I recently got out of a horrible flat- mate situation and am living on my own again. So I'm happy. It's something I've been working toward for awhile.

I have a paralyzing fear when I think of retirement, so I'm socking away as much money as I can each month.

I think that sums things up where I'm at right now.

Cuando era apenas una niña
Le pregunté a mi madre
¿Qué seré yo?
¿Seré hermosa?
¿Seré rica?
Esto es lo que me respondió:

¿Qué será, será?
¿Qué será, será?
No podemos ver el futuro
¿Qué será, será?
¿Qué será, será?

Cuando crecí y me enamoré
Le pregunté a mi novio
¿Qué nos depara el destino?
¿Seremos felices
Día tras día?
Esto es lo que mi novio respondió:

¿Qué será, será?
¿Qué será, será?
No podemos ver el futuro
¿Qué será, será?
¿Qué será, será?

Ahora tengo a mis niños
Le preguntan a su madre
¿Qué seré yo?
¿Seré buen mozo?
¿Seré rico?
Les respondo con ternura:

¿Qué será, será?
¿Qué será, será?
No podemos ver el futuro
¿Qué será, será?
¿Qué será, será?
¿Qué será, será?

I decided a couple days ago that I will be going back to school, even if it means taking out loans to do so. I plan to take out extra, so I can take drum and/or singing lessons, as well.

That sounds like a very cool course, would be awesome if there was something around here like that.

For me, it's hard to say. Had a plan that completely fell apart, and I'm kind of starting over.

So, the current plan is

a) Live with my parents while we all ride out our period of bankruptcy (9 months for the bankruptcy, 1 year for the lease on the house)

b) Two years of working with the company I left to start my own business while I pay my dues for them paying for my commercial driver's license.

c) After these 'debts' are paid, re-evaluate my position and push for a better job in my current company, or kick ass and blaze a trail somewhere else.

d) Hopefully trip over someone who might want to get it on with me and stick around for a while.

That's the 'plan', such as it is.
