What's on your desktop?

Apologies if this has already been done.
My Internet connection just crashed and I had to restart my computer. While I was doing so, I looked at the picture of the cover of Horses by Patti Smith on my desktop and thought, "damn, I have good taste. I'm the coolest guy in the world." Then I walked into my bedroom door on the way to the bathroom.
So, what's on YOUR desktop?

Are you the guy I recently complimented on his eminently readable posts?

And yes, it has been done, lots even, but it's not like anybody cares all that much. ;p

And I really wish somebody would send me a plane ticket to the Easter Islands right now. Anybody? Anybody?

what do you write?

Comic fiction. I'm blogging it at the mo, and I've only just found a narrative voice that isn't horribly stilted. My Blogspot site (which incidentally can be linked to from my profile) has four chapters of a first draft I'm putting together at the moment, but I have wreams of crap on my computer. I'm still learning a lot of basic stuff, but my self-description is "writer" regardless: if I don't succeed as one then I'll be in dead-end jobs for the rest of my life, because it's the only thing I really care about.

It's more sand. When a wave comes in, it leaves sand behind, making layers of sand. And if you had your glasses on, you would see that there are no footprints in that photo.

Yeah, Portstewart gets some amazing views; facing north-west, out over a massive bay with cliffs running along one side and Donegal across the bay, and with a mile-long blue flag National Trust beach. Really is very beautiful.

I'd go with the Final Frontier B one...maybe because I like blue...however, the Arrested Expansion (2nd one) looks really good, and, credit where it's due, the first one looks good too, but it's not to my taste...
yeh, i was leaning towards that one too. i've got bored of 'Arrested Expansion' quite quickly, maybe cuz it's not got many colours. i might browse the photo thread and steal someone's photo for my desktop, or try stumble-upon. hadone of ruffy's for a while before this one.

Yeah, Portstewart gets some amazing views; facing north-west, out over a massive bay with cliffs running along one side and Donegal across the bay, and with a mile-long blue flag National Trust beach. Really is very beautiful.

This is what my wallpaper used to be, I'm considering changing back:

No doubt it is. If I ever go to Ireland, and I plan to, I'll definately visit there.
The Ulster GP one looks really good as well - love the contrast. Goes well with the startbar.

It's nice to see someone with as good taste as me! :p And I do agree, the Arrested Expansion one does seem a little drab.

Anyway, it's 2350 here, so I'm off to get some sleep. 'Twas lovely chatting with you fine gentlemen and women, but I have double chemistry in the morning, and Atomic Emission Spectroscopy, coupled with UV-Vis Spec are not the subjects for me with a lack of sleep.

Nope. I <3 that picture. I wish I wouldn't have it cluttered up with a billion icons so I could see it better. I also wish my screen was bigger. And I really wish somebody would send me a plane ticket to the Easter Islands right now. Anybody? Anybody?

It's more effective if you click your heels and scream "SIEG HEIL!" or "MEINE EHRE IST MEINE TREUE!" at them when you've opened the door.

Nope, just me in my own particular brand of insanity. Nothing stops a random caller asking for money for starving orphans like a cap with the Totenkopf emblazoned on the front ;)

Very useful if you are trying to do things like pattern match coding where you need to look at a document, in as close to original format as you can and then write a program that matches it

(thats what I am doing right now)

also good in things like website design

Also a few studies as far as business productivity in a high email environment when you can for example leave outlook occupying one monitor and work on the other and coordinate between the two

In the end duals are incredibly productive for me I would never go back

Yes.

Gnnnh! That's not fair, I got 14:9 and yours is MUCH wider!

Mine is 5:2, or more truthfully, 5(*2):4 as it is two 5:4 monitors.

I have a picture of Jon Stewart. I just got cable for £1/month extra and one of the channels has the Daily Show on it. I pretty damn happy. :D

The Daily Show <3

We need a show of a similar variety that focuses on British Current affairs. There are few that already do, just not in the style that the Daily show presents it.

The deep blue color of the sky is crazily accurate but the stars are either flecks of dust (because all those pictures in that set are paper prints I scanned in) or pixelly things the scanner did. I'm not sure myself. Every time I see it I go "Oooh, you can even see the stars!" for like half a second or so. <.<

Yeah, Portstewart gets some amazing views; facing north-west, out over a massive bay with cliffs running along one side and Donegal across the bay, and with a mile-long blue flag National Trust beach. Really is very beautiful.

That one is the default Media Centre 2005 (which is the version of XP I'm using) theme. The other one is the "Zune" theme that Microsoft released a while back, downloadable from here (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=75078).
