Sweet freakin' jeebus (http://news.aol.com/entertainment/tv/articles/_a/geicos-cavemen-may-get-own-tv-series/20070302195009990001?cid=918)! Making a TV sitcom out of those Geico ads? Can the entertainment industry just not come up with new ideas on their own?

You're like a week late on this. Anyway, I like the cavemen. They're good commercials.
Sorry, just saw it on "The Feed" on G4.
And sure, they're good commercials, when you have to run with it for 30-60 seconds. But for a full half-hour? It's kinda like how most Saturday Night Live sketches can't make it as movies.

Wait they're abandoning the original and imaginative formula of "ugly fat guy married to pretty girl" ?

Probably not. My guess is that the caveman will have a hot wife.

All things considered, this is better than the other series of GEICO commercials that have been running around here. Those are the ones that feature a celebrity helping a non-celebrity tell how great the GEICO service was.
Personally, I recommend USAA.

Well, at least the Geico Gecko's not getting his own show. Yet...

I wonder if she will be responsible and completely frigid.

Cave Wife:"How many times do I have to tell you?! No T-Rex baiting!"
Cave(Modern)Man: "Ugh!"

I dunno, I like the one with that announcer guy from the movies.
"In a world where both of our cars were underwater"
"A new wind was about to blow..."
"Payback... THIS time, it's for real!"

The Little Richard one was kind of cool in a train wreck sort of way.
I thought that too.
Ah Little Richard, how you have fallen.

My gf's daughter loves that one. She thinks Little Richard is hysterical. Of course, she's also a nine-year-old...

I'd rather see a show about the barbarian raider guys, myself.

Its not all that clear, but is it a British or American sit-com? If it’s American it’s not that surprising, sit-coms were never an American thing. Americans are good at sketch comedy and slapstick (there are some exceptions, Scrubs and My name is Earl are excellent). If it’s a British sit-com, I think I’ll start to cry, run away and buy the complete box set of “Only Fools and Horses” or “Red Dwarf”.

Well, this could potentially be watchable. It all depends on the writers and actors. And if they're able to find a good actor whose willing to have his face mostly obscured by a caveman beard and brow makeup.
I'd rather see a show about the barbarian raider guys, myself.
... agreed.

I don't know that I can name them all, but there have been a few caveman sitcoms over the years.
1. Flintstones -- This used to be an adult cartoon. In fact, Fred would usually pitch cigarettes at some point.
2. It's About Time -- Two astronauts, after breaking the speed of light, accidently travel back in time to prehistoric Earth.
That's all I can remember. There was the ABC show Dinosaurs, but there were no cavemen in Pangaea.
